I blame it on the "Blog" nature of this thread and the boards.  When topics are put into their own thread, such as "Training Camp - Day 4 practice" and "Eagles trade for Gardner Minshew", it tends to concentrate the conversation around events that are actually occurring.  When everything gets thrown into a single "Blog" post that lasts for weeks or months, conversations on tired topics, and prior perceived slights, tend to carry over and dominate.

That is a valid point Lennie.  The counterpoint to it is that the "siloed" approach that you describe loses all the holistic trajectory and interdependencies that (sometimes) happen in this Blog.  With that said, the Blog has evolved a lot since it was forst created by Tommy Lawlor back in 2004 on the EMB.  In its initial form and for many years it was predominantly educational in its tone.  Posters came here to learn from people who knew more about specific aspects of the game than they did.  Posters laughed together and learned together.

One other aspect that was different was that most of the denizens of the Blog were there because they loved the game of football.  Their loyalty to the Eagles was very strong, but their love of the game was stronger.  There was much less focus on winning and losing than there is now.  Actually "focus on winning and losing" is not even a good description of the current Blog. "Obsession with winning" is closer to what we have now.

That plays itself out in the polarized discussions of Hurts.  I personally found the Eagles offense of the second half of last season enthralling ... over the top enthralling.  It was a throwback to the days of the Bob Cousy / Bill Russell Boston Celtics where the cohesiveness of the entire unit on the floor was like watching a ballet ... instead of 5 components there were 11.  It had a Disney quality to it (see below)

And as a result of that perspective, the first three drives in Sunday's game with the Browns was poetry in motion.  14 plays, 17 plays and 12 plays  ... that is 43 ballet "passes."  Of course the yang to that ying was the pass to Devon Allen.  But in that play too, what happened in the blocking of the Browns was sheer beauty in and of itself.

That would be a penalty today right?  Nevermind, stupid question.

Actually I don't think it would be.  He hits him squarely with his right shoulder pad and right forearm.  He has his head/helmet tucked to the left so that it never directly contacts the player head on.

While this is true, the methodology may have worked because the Eagles were beating teams below .500 in the standings.  I have my doubts the run-biased offense will be able to keep pace with the Chiefs, Rams, Packers, Bills, Bucs, etc. — unless a top-5 defense can carry the load.  The Eagles are still a long way away on defense

Awesome.  I am almost 50.  No one is saying you don’t know what you are talking about, but the little click we call the pillars come across like you are better than thr  rest of us.  Your ringleader afan is the worst.

Wow.  Your final two sentences are amazingly far off the mark.  afan is a ringleader of a Blog clique only in your imagination.  In fact the existence of a Blog clique is also in your imagination.  If there is a ringleader it is Tommy Lawlor ... goeagles99 here in the Blog and the force behind igglesblitz.com. What do you see as the unifying force of what you see as a clique?  Who is in it?

You are making my point for me.  I really don't care if the Eagles are able to keep pace with the Chiefs, Rams, Packers, Bills, Bucs, etc.  That is a "Winning is the only thing" approach, and it guarantees that each season there will be 31 losers and only 1 winner.  If you love the game rather than love winning, you get to win each and every week ... frequently in each and every snap of the ball.  Further, football is a game that is incredibly random.  There is no way to program the outcome you desire.  Even when the odds are stacked in their favor, there still are factors that are beyond everyone's control that will result ... more often than not ... in the team being one of the 31 that fell rather than the 1 that is left standing.  So, my question to you is, "Why be a masochist?"

"Winning is the only thing" takes all the fun out of the game ... and it is a game.

Only holes on the team I see are safety and possibly RB if we plan to pound the rock behind this OL.

maybe a Dillard trade could plug one of those positions

Since my Eagles juices were flowing, I'm too amped to go to sleep so here are some outside the box thoughts on the Eagles 53-man cut down:

QB (2) (2) Hurts and Minshew ... with the third QB going on the Practice Squad (1)
RB (3) (5) Sanders, Gainwell and Scott ... with the possibility of a thumper coming from the final cuts around the League
WR (7) (12) Brown, Smith, Watkins, Pascal, Cain, Allen, and Reagor ... with Howie working diligently to get this down to 6 by trading Reagor (or releasing him outright).  You can not teach speed.  Just ask Bob Hayes.  I'm giving Allen the Mailata treatment and putting him on my 53 ... too much upside potential to risk losing. ... Covey to Practice Squad (2)
TE (2) (14) Goedert and Stoll ... Togiai and Calcaterra to Practice Squad (4)
OL (10) (24) Mailata, Dickerson, Kelce, Seumalo, Johnson, Dillard, Opeta, Jurgens, Anderson, Driscoll ... Sills, Awosika and Clark to Practice Squad (7)

DE (4) (28) Sweat, Graham, Barnett, Jackson ... look for a waiver pickup to add to the Practice Squad (8)
DT (4) (32) Hargrave, Davis, Williams, Cox ... Tuipulotu, Wilson, Smith, Wren, and Noah Elliss all go to Practice Squad with Elliss going on IR as soon as he is signed (13 then down to 12)
SAM (2) (34) Reddick, Patrick Johnson ... Kyron Johnson to Practice Squad (13)
LB (5) (39) White, Edwards. Dean, Taylor, Bradley ... Stephens to Practice Squad (14)
CB (6) (45) Slay, Bradberry, Maddox, McPherson, Jobe, Scott ... Gowan and McCain to Practice Squad (16)
Safety (6) (51) Epps, Harris, Tartt, Blankenship, Amadi, Chachere ... I personally believe Howie should look to trade Harris just befor or just after the 53-man cut down
Specialists (2) (53) Elliott and Siposs ... as was done last year Lovato is released with the understanding he will be resigned.  It worked before.  It can work again.

Yeah, she's tried some gummies a year or so ago and they do help. But they also made her very dizzy, and after her strokes, balance is already a big issue. But I'm going to be looking into getting her authorized for it, now that she's back on chemo. It's already fully legal in Virginia (to possess), but you just can't legally buy anything without the medical card.

Can you make the letters in my name green?

I'm not saying we need to talk about football...but attacking people is getting old and killing the spirit of what this place used to be.  I swear this place has become a cess pool since the move.

Absolutely. It’s at rock bottom both in conversation and tone.

It's definitely not cheap. Fortunately, she had great insurance and it's fully covered... and 3 years in, we're talking somewhere in the millions (literally), if there was no insurance.

As for the side effects, chemo #1 (in mid 2019) was extremely horrible for her. But even then, she never got so sick that she vomited (never has). But she did think that it was literally going to kill her. They cut the strength after that, and the effects were far less. Not pleasant, but not horrible either. The hardest part is the lack of appetite and weight loss.

No doubt. If i can be useful feel free to pm me i work in r&d

Its not w binary thing but yes winning is the only thing

we can enjoy plays, individual performances etc but the only real prize is the title. That is the essence of sport.

I can play some good golf but if i lose the match it was for naught

Just struggle seeing Eagles have 2 QBs and 7 WRs. Does a 7th WR deserve to make the team? 6 I see.

Also, Kyron Johnson IMO is too good to cut. EDGEs get picked up immediately.

While I agree it’ll be tough to not hold onto to Allen, I just can’t imagine them justifying his overall skill set for a roster spot. Route running, hands, etc. But I thought similarly of Mailata so who knows
