I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Just saw a fun stat.

Since 1977!, the Bears have never had a QB start every game for consecutive seasons.

You may be right. OTOH, he's a good player in a league with a dearth of OTs.

In a trade his value is likely higher because of that, but comp picks wise it’ll be significantly lower unless he produces at a strong level during this season. Unfortunately that likely means Mailata would be hurt. Otherwise I don’t see a backup earning us a 3rd Rd comp

I actually think he is talking soccer, which IMHO is worse.

Pitch is Limey for playing field.

Agreed.  He's an asset.  After this season though, he's no longer an asset to this team.  There is the possibility of getting as high as a 3rd for him in the comp pick formula, but that pick wouldn't convey until 2024.  Meanwhile, any trade could be negotiated to convey the pick in 2023.

So, removing Dallas from the equation, which I'll explain below, is it more valuable to have a guaranteed 2nd round pick 2023, or the possibility of no higher than a 3rd round pick (likely lower than that) in 2024 and the insurance policy that Dillard provides, primarily only on the left side?

Trading him to Dallas versus any other team is a bit of a moot point.  He signs with whomever makes him the best offer after this season any way.  The writing is on the wall here with the Eagles.  They declined his 5th year, so now they need to maximize what they can for him.  Sending him to Dallas only gives Dallas the inside track to resign him, if they wish, and if he wishes.  It isn't a guarantee that he's with them forever.  But, even so, if he's not good enough to start here, then he's not as valuable to this team.  The Eagles need to do what is best for them, and not worry about the other teams.  Build the best team you can, and you will beat the other teams.  Worry about the other teams, and you will find yourself losing often to them.  "Quit thinking about what Bobby Lee's (Dallas) gonna do to us and start thinking about what we're going to do to him" - US Grant.

Perhaps, but Grant wasn’t thinking of trading Phil Sheridan to Lee.

It works both ways though. Whats also best for the Eagles is to not help Dallas. Any team thats willing to give up significant draft capital for Dillard will have an extension signed the day he is traded. Dallas is going to be about as desperate as it gets for a need at LT. I would tell them a 1st this year, and a 2nd next year.

Damn.

Do you honestly think they have a legitimate chance of having the best record ??

A lot of fans didn't see us having the best record and winning the SB in 2017 either.   I mean I actually agree that I don't think we'll be the best team in the NFC, but it's not impossible that it could happen.

Wut Smith out until at least December, I wonder if the Cowboys push up the timeline with Tyler Smith and let him play LT now.

Nope 27 is 80F. I have no idea on the calculation, it seems to make no sense, as your 32 is our 0, but then at -40, they become the same (-40 C is -40 F)

No offense, but the American system for measurement and temp is whacky.

I think measuring units depend on what you're measuring. For science related things - chemistry, physics, medicine, that sort of thing SI wins hands down. For construction and things like furniture design and construction imperial is still in pretty common use, it seems to do with ratios that seem to fit better using feet and inches than mm and cm. Plywood is an interesting case. Length and width are typically imperial - 4 feet X 8 feet. Thickness is often metric - 18 or 19 mm for "3/4" plywood. I believe Canada still sells 2 X 4s, not the metric equivalent. So there's a mix.
