Are you saying that you post something in the blog, and someone says we already discussed that? If so, thats not true. I never see that happen in here.

Happens all the time here.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

It's best to just put that guy on ignore.  He's nothing but toxic.  It greatly improves the board experience.

Always remember, this is the guy who celebrated Nick Foles breaking his collar bone so he never had to see him play another game in an Eagles uniform.

Just a bit curious. Do you use cups, tablespoons and teaspoons as measurements in your recipes?  Our version uses both in the instructions.

We do indeed use those measurements for cooking. It's a strange place here, colloquially we use lbs for our own weight, but generally grams and kilograms for cooking. In government documents, we use kilo's for weight and centimetres for height, but I couldn't tell you how many kilos I weigh or how many CMs I am without looking at my license. We use feet and inches for height in everyday talk.

Perry Tuttle over Mike Quick. See, sometimes it works in our favor.

Context is so important with draft picks.

Nelson Agholor...disappointment with 1 big year (that helped win a SB).  The WRs and other positions of interest sucked in that draft.  They actually did quite well there, even though his overall production and talent are not great for a 1.

Freddie Mitchell, Reagor, JJAW...bad players picked amongst great players available at the same position.  Now that's really bad.

Devonta Smith...is he REALLY evidence that Howie has gotten past his round 1 woes?  Jaylen Waddle, Penei Sewell, Rashawn Slater, Micah Parsons, Surtain.  Basically, one of them HAD to become an Eagle.

Watch out for Eagles in trade or cut. They need TE depth.

Regarding TE depth the quote you need is "Patience grasshopper”. The depth is there.  It is just young.

They try to get away from us every chance they get. But we won't let em leave!

Love Montreal too. I'd rank our big cities Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal. All 3 are great

I haven't watched much of Howard...but from what I've heard, how much blocking and ST effort could we expect from him?

Montreal is the New Orleans of the North.  Great place!

How about this one Howie over Joe Douglas

F that.  If there was a referendum in the west to kick Quebec out of confederation it would come back 90% yes.  The other 10% are Quebecers who have moved here, and they shouldn't get to vote

Haven't been to Toronto since I was in college, I'll have to circle back. But Montreal is a nice easy getaway from New England in the summer time. Good food scene.

To be honest, nobody east of Manitoba cares what the west thinks!

aparently neither do you.  And I always assume when someone goes right to personal name calling, they realize they were had.  I'll take that as a win.

The Eagles seem to disagree, as all reporters and writers say they are looking for TE depth.

If you come to Toronto, come in July/August. Great, hot weather, tons of events and things to do. The city really shines in the summer. Winter can be OK, but people get grumpy in the cold and there's just less to do. Plus, we don't get that much snow, so the streets turn into a sort of brown, slushy mess.

I am an active member, just changed my name.  But this is exactly my point.  How would a average member even know what has or hasn't been talked about in the blog without scrolling page after page to check? Then when that person does start a topic,  some arseclown from the blog will slam them because it's already been talked about in the blog 74 pages ago.  And it's always the same group of people that do that.  You included. Not everyone spends all day on this board.....

Can’t say I have ever seen a post by you in here so your definition of active is different than mine..  Plenty of opportunity to start any thread you want to start in TATE.  But you complaining about the format of a single thread that most regular posters to that thread are more than comfortable with is sophomoric. Especially for a thread that has existed in this format for close to two decades.

Y'know what I hate most about the "we could have picked" draft arguments? It's that it's very difficult to find a scenario where there wasn't a better player who was picked later that you passed on at the time. The only way that doesn't happen is if you pick the very best player when it's your turn. While not impossible, it's highly unlikely.

Say for example you have the tenth pick in the draft. You're probably going to get a very good player, and there are probably about a half dozen guys under consideration at that time. But hell, there are about 250 draftable players who are sitting there. The odds that you're getting the best out of 250 is not good. The best you can realistically hope for is to get someone good who is going to help you win games and who won't be a bust.

Regarding Barnett. I remember following that draft pretty closely. And I remember names like O.J. Howard, Malik Hooker, Gareon Conley, Jabrill Peppers, and Reuben Foster being names that were frequently talked about as candidates for us. Have any of those guys panned out? Is Barnett really any worse than those guys? Okay, sure, TJ Watt turned out to be better -- by a wide margin -- but I don't remember people pining for him at the time. Heck, Charles Harris, Takkarist McKinley, and Taco Charlton were pass rushers who were picked before Watt. To be fair, Jonathan Allen was also, and he was someone who was widely regarded to be someone who would be off the board at the time the Eagles were picked. So in my mind, there is some validity to arguments that "we should have picked Allen" whereas claims that "we should have picked Watt" are just hindsight taken to extremes.

Well yes, the question was certainly asked with the idea of using hindsight. And the players chosen, DK and Watt, were chosen because their careers so far have eclipsed both Barnett and JJAW's to a massive extent. It was just a fun discussion to have, or so I thought.
