From my perspective, when I was there in 2009 we had a terrible time. The people are miserable aholes, it' was a dirty hell hole.  I would not waste another dime in that place.

We do indeed use those measurements for cooking. It's a strange place here, colloquially we use lbs for our own weight, but generally grams and kilograms for cooking. In government documents, we use kilo's for weight and centimetres for height, but I couldn't tell you how many kilos I weigh or how many CMs I am without looking at my license. We use feet and inches for height in everyday talk.

Blame those folks in Quebec for trying to convert you to the French metric system.

I am an active member, just changed my name.  But this is exactly my point.  How would a average member even know what has or hasn't been talked about in the blog without scrolling page after page to check? Then when that person does start a topic,  some arseclown from the blog will slam them because it's already been talked about in the blog 74 pages ago.  And it's always the same group of people that do that.  You included. Not everyone spends all day on this board.....

You have to understand: that poster and a few of his minions rant about Hurts all day every day.

You guys are a buncha freaks. Trapped by those loons in Alberta, but you have much nicer weather usually and far superior geography.

To be fair, I'm in Seattle, but it's close to Vancouver and I do go up there a decent amount...usually hunting for whiskey.

Is it not cool to like Calgary?

Feel like it's a giant blue colar city where you just drink and eat(really good food)

BTW, wont get intot he Celsius discussion, but Calgary is a special type of cold.

Calgary has nothing on Edmonton for cold, at least as far as I know.

I've never been into Alberta, it's sorta like the elephant graveyard from the Lion King.

that could be it.

I been up there a couple times, it's clean, it's nice, food was amazing. booze/wine was amazing. had a good time at a clean/decent casino.

Now NOLA, and SF, where you stepping over human poop, watching bums fight for trash, and seeing needles on the street is my limit

My limit is before it gets to that point. Thank you. LOL

If you come to Toronto, come in July/August. Great, hot weather, tons of events and things to do. The city really shines in the summer. Winter can be OK, but people get grumpy in the cold and there's just less to do. Plus, we don't get that much snow, so the streets turn into a sort of brown, slushy mess.

I disagree with your comment on winter, unless their hockey team loses.  But a hockey bar in Toronto is a great experience. Almost like going to a Penn State bar for football in…..well everywhere. PSU alum seem to be everywhere.

Lol I hate hockey. Well, hate's a strong word, used to love it, as a kid seeing Hextall scrapping guys and being a maniac drew me into the Philly-verse. Then came Randall and I was hooked.

But, after the numerous lock-outs, and generally mickey mouse way the NHL is run, I just can't find my passion for it anymore.

The city does get very excited though if the Leafs are in the playoffs, and it's quite humorous to me when they fail miserably.

The Raptors parade was pure awesomeness though (sorry for opening a not so old wound for some of you)

been twice, never to Edmonton.

But ya, it's a different cold. take your soul cold

Lol, -40 cold (which is also -40 F!)....you can only go outside for brief moments. As bad as Alberta can get, I think Sask and Manitoba get it worse....they're just flat, open prairies, and when that winter wind whips through, they get insanely cold. That's why nobody lives there.

Went to a Hospital near Hamilton Ontario back in 2016, my nose was ripped wide open, being from the states it was a new experience. Walking in , it reminded me of a Hospital from the States in the 1970's. Nothing fancy,, just what you need. I had to pay for it outright- was only $650, for the cleanup, local and stitches.  The Doctor asked my wife during the stitching how it looked, she pointed out that it needed another stitch... lol Which it did. So he added another one.

Honestly he did a good job, you cant see a scar.

I saw human poop walking from the "airport" area to the rental care area

I beleive it.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I would take the cold winters up north over the hot summers down south in a heartbeat.  I can always put on more clothes, pour a whiskey and make a fire.  100 degree 100% humidity days can F right off.

Now obviously there's a limit to how far north that applies (especially once you go inland)

Nice. Woulda been free for me!

Hamilton is similar to Pittsburgh. Even called Steeltown as well, I think.

I like having seasons. But I would much rather it be hot than cold. When it's hot, I can schedule to be outside in the am or evening when it's cooler, but when it's cold, I stay indoors.

It was Early December, and it was probably 15-20(F) but it was just a different, different cold. It went right threw your jacket, skin, to the bones. Felt like it would take hours to warm.

With that being said, every bar had a monster fire place roaring, everyone was nice, relaxed. food was excellent and you needed a real good buzz to walk the block or 2 back to the hotel lol

Lol yeah, that's the arctic winds for ya.

The best part is in spring, as soon as a sunny day hits, even it's like 40 F, people are out in shorts and t-shirts. Here in Toronto, it's amazing working downtown because one day everybody is bundled up in winter gear, and the next the women are out in tank tops and sundresses. That's how you know spring has sprung.

Seasons are key.  I don't want too much of either.  But give me the choice of a X months out of the year being too cold or a X months of the year being too hot I'll take cold.  Coastal New England/Pacific North-West/southern coasts of Canada is my kind of weather.

Spent some time in upstate new york.  Can confirm. (Letterkenny reference to boot for ya)

Y'know what I hate most about the "we could have picked" draft arguments? It's that it's very difficult to find a scenario where there wasn't a better player who was picked later that you passed on at the time. The only way that doesn't happen is if you pick the very best player when it's your turn. While not impossible, it's highly unlikely.

Say for example you have the tenth pick in the draft. You're probably going to get a very good player, and there are probably about a half dozen guys under consideration at that time. But hell, there are about 250 draftable players who are sitting there. The odds that you're getting the best out of 250 is not good. The best you can realistically hope for is to get someone good who is going to help you win games and who won't be a bust.

Regarding Barnett. I remember following that draft pretty closely. And I remember names like O.J. Howard, Malik Hooker, Gareon Conley, Jabrill Peppers, and Reuben Foster being names that were frequently talked about as candidates for us. Have any of those guys panned out? Is Barnett really any worse than those guys? Okay, sure, TJ Watt turned out to be better -- by a wide margin -- but I don't remember people pining for him at the time. Heck, Charles Harris, Takkarist McKinley, and Taco Charlton were pass rushers who were picked before Watt. To be fair, Jonathan Allen was also, and he was someone who was widely regarded to be someone who would be off the board at the time the Eagles were picked. So in my mind, there is some validity to arguments that "we should have picked Allen" whereas claims that "we should have picked Watt" are just hindsight taken to extremes.

Agree.  Even the same with the Reagor v Jefferson pick. Only a few of us were high on Jefferson.  I recall the conversations about whether Jefferson had performed well on the outside the year before.  But we had posters that wanted Aiyuk, Mims, and even one speed obsessed poster wanted Hamler.  A lot wanted us to trade up for Ruggs.  I had Jefferson as my second highest WR with the first being Jeudy.  Considering how his injury history has worked out, I would say Jeudy has been a bit of a disappointment.  I still think Howie missed seriously on Reagor instead of Jefferson but during that time frame, I thought he gambled to much on the first two days.  I am somewhat impressed that he started to change last year and his choices were better this year.  That said, those were safe choices. And Dean is almost as much of a gamble as Taylor.

Hindsight is 20/20.
