Seems that they actually started to hedge against their bet on Taylor by drafting Dean and signing White.  Taylor has an upfield battle to see the field this year.  He's behind White, Edwards and Reddick.  Dean seems to have an inside track for reps before Taylor based on knowing how to play behind the big fella in the middle.  Dean also has the knowledge of the game and had the green dot in the PS game 1.   We'll see how it shakes out, but it seems like they are looking to move on from Taylor more than they are currently betting on traits.  The draft they selected him, I agree, it was all about traits.  That seems to have backfired on them, and they went in a different direction in more recent drafts.

Dean has been playing MIKE. (Hence the green dot).  His competition at this point is Bradley.  Taylor has been playing WIL and his competition to back up White is Stevens. Reddick isn’t even in the same room with them.  The competitors to back him up are the Johnsons.  Right now Dean and Taylor are on the field together as the #2s at there respective positions.  We want to hope that both progress and the gambles pay off because White and Edwards are only signed through this season.

Family owned a place out side of Oswego, spent a ton of winters up there. nothing like waking up to 3 feet of snow that no one knew was coming

i fish there ever year. first time we ever went up in november we got nailed by a blizzard out of nowhere on 81 just north of syracuse. by the time we got to port ontairo there was 3plus inches on the ground.

So I have been very critical of Hurts play and his abilities. For me we need to have a QB who can win from the pocket, if they can run and improvise when needed great, but I dont want that to be their main strength.

Last years playoff game proved without a doubt Hurts needed to improve. We have heard all kinds of press, and praise of his improvement, and being scepticle, I need to see it on the field. However-

I dont know if I am failing victim of all the Pro Hurts priase, but I am starting to beleive there is a chance he can and will show improvement. Sadly I am susceptible to all the positive press coupled with the onset of a new season with so much other positive mojo - AJ Brown, Jurgens, Davis, Dean, D Smith, Pashal, Mailata, Goedert etc..... And I may regret allowing myself to be sucked in.

Same, used to have property up there and would go two or three weeks a year for vacation/fishing trip. Usually would go July/August and would avoid winter. I went once in the spring time right in the middle of blackfly season. Never did that again.

Barnett had big sack numbers.  He had late round athleticism and explosion as an edge rusher.

I hope the Jordan Davis pick means they have corrected that mistake.

So 100 posts about Montreal and no strip club discussion? I have spent a lot of time in Montreal and agree it is pretty dirty, but you have to pay extra for that.

Andre Dillard is no Phil Sheridan.   At best a George Meade, but more likely a Irvin McDowell, quite frankly.

Well, Lee had lost Jeb  Stuart at Yellow Tavern. He needed a cavalry officer (LT).

P.S. I like Meade quite a lot, despite some egregious errors. McDowell, well, no. At Chancellorsville, when Hooker lost his nerve and ordered a retreat, Meade argued strenuously to stay and fight.

What year were you there? The Big O is sort of away from most of the city, and is kind of a trashy area. Mount Royal is where it's at, and Old Montreal is gorgeous.

We sent some time in the Mount Royal area a few years ago.  Montreal is an incredible city to visit.  Great people, great food and great beer.

I think Taylor will see time.  If they're in a real 3-4 look, he's not an OLB.  He's an ILB like Dean, Edwards, White and Bradley.  I think he's an OLB in nickel looks but he's not a pass rusher like Reddick.  He also has a role on STs.  I do think he looked improved last season.  My guess is that his playing time will depend on injuries at first outside of certain packages.

Sometime between now and opening Sunday I lose all objectivity and see everything in green goggles.  Hurts starts more and more like a 8 instead of a 4 the closer to game time it gets.

Here's a snarky post about the Pin and Pull. I have tried to use un-pillar terminology. Where unavoidable, I try to explain and bolden the terms.

The Eagles are in 12 personnel, meaning one running back and two tight ends. Rodgers is #81, Togiai is #83. Both are lined up on the right side.

The OL, left to right, is Dillard (77), Anderson (76), Jurgens (51), Opeta (78), and Driscoll (63). Boston Scott (35) lines up to the left of the QB.

A quick aside: The direction of the play is to the playside. Usually, depending on where the RB lines up the playside is to the opposite side. In this case, because the RB is to the left of the QB, the playside is to the right. That's a discussion in itself, saved for another time if anyone cares.

P & P1.png

At the snap you can see Opeta (78) and Jurgens (51) pulling to the right. Driscoll (63) attacks the DT. Rodgers (81) starts at the ILB, He's being given a push by Togiai (83) behind him, telling him which man to block. Togiai is telling him, "I've got the DE, you get the LB." Anderson (76) has a tough block, what's called a reach block; he's got to hook the DT and cut him off from pursuing the RB down the line.

P&P 2.png

Driscoll (63) has controlled the DT in front of him, Rodgers (81) has squared up the LB, Togiai (83) has driven the DE inside. These blocks PIN the defenders inside. This is the PIN. You can see Opeta (78) and Jurgens (51) have pulled around Driscoll. This is the PULL. On the backside you can see that Anderson (76) succeeded in his reach block and Dillard (77) has controlled the backside DE.

Opeta (78) has driven his man out. Rodgers (81) and Togiai (83) have driven their men in, Jurgens (51) is running up a beautiful lane and Scott (35) is tucked in behind him.

P&P 4.png

Scott (35) is through the lane with Jurgens (51) closing in on the safety.

Jurgens (51) puts the safety on his ass but Scott (35) is running out of real estate.

Scott (35) almost stays in bounds, but not quite. This play almost went the distance.

That wasn't a blog discussion.

And everything else is not divisive and doesn't lead to extremes, like politics does.

What was the recent Wawa hoagie special?  Why don’t you go buy one, get the next half off and shove them both up your poo hole.

You probably got your first handy in Wawa parking lot
