Ben Simmons has to be far and away the #1 Philadelphia sports villain, right?

Easily. However as much as I hate Ben Simmons this isn’t all on Ben Simmons. The 76ers ownership has been horrific since they collected the assets to start the process. Their ineptitude has contributed to this. As much as I think Elton Brand didn’t do a very good job when he signed Al Horford and signed Harris to his extension, he also went to sixers ownership and told them he wanted to trade Ben Simmons early on in his tenure. Because he didn’t see it with him ever developing like they thought. And ownership said no.  there were people in that organization just like it was with fultz that told them not to take him. And they didn’t want to listen. The ownership of the Sixers has a lot of responsibility in this. As well as the piss poor general managers since hinkie left that blew through all of our assets with minimal returns.

I will argue this to the day I die, the theory of the process made a ton of sense. With the amount of assets the 76ers collected with hinkie they could’ve made an absolutely great sustainable roster. The thing that killed the process is the decision making by GMs, ownership flip-flopping left and right, bad drafting and poor use of cap space. If you had better ownership, general managers/decision makers the 76ers process looks a hell of a lot better.

Would eagles fans freak out if the head coach made him an OC Instead of a DC?

I've argued before that giving Castillo a chance at DC wasn't that big of a deal as he was defensive player in college and usfl and had previously coached on the defensive side in college before moving over to TE then OL coach.

It's not much of a stretch to say most cos he's whether they coach offense or defense are well versed on both sides of the ball.

Some may have a penchant for a particular side or even position but for the most part I'd assume most have enough overall knowledge of football that what sets them apart isn't their wealth of knowledge of one side of the ball or position but their ability to teach and communicate.

Stoutland who I'm sure most would agree is one of if not the top o line coach in the game, does he have knowledge about technique or O line play that other o line coaches aren't privy to? Doubt it.

What sets him apart is his ability to identify traits and communicate and teach.

Castillo much like Andy Reid who much like Mike Holmgren who much like bill walsh who was an actual teacher were/are great teachers

Don't know much about Washburn but seems he's well versed in both offense and defense and I think he'll go as far as he's able to reach those he's teaching.

Have you watched clips of Stoutland coaching?  He gets down to foot and hand placement with minute detail. Watching Castillo’s punch drill was a thing of beauty.  There are nuances about the game.

BTW, one of the reasons I like the young investments we have at DB is I like Dennard Wilson’s drills. I wasn’t a huge fan of the "choose your own cushion” last year but, frankly, the LBs screwed up the zone play as much as any of the DBs.

How is our schedule so easy again lol even if this team isn't very good we might still get over 9 wins. Being in the NFC East helps too.

That schedule looks OK that. Couple of tricky runs in there and a fairly early bye isn't ideal but overall looks alright.

Re: spiral notebooks. I just started buying composition booklets when I was in junior high. Only spiral notebooks I used was a graph paper one and a musical one. What I hate is binders.

So I was taking one of those emotional intelligence classes that our HR folks loved putting on.  Well this on had pages where we were supposed to do exercises and that sort of thing in a big old binder.  We were doing some quasi diversity exercise and I got called on to present my "task” just as I was reconstructing my binder from taking the task out and working on it.  I asked the HR team if they knew the percentage of left handed people at the company.  Nope. Well this was a class for managers and executives from my department. I knew we were disproportionately left handed compared to the 12% that are in the general population.  So I asked for a show of hands of left handed people in the room. (Close to a third).  None of the HR people raised their hands. I then asked why, with so many left handed people in the company, did we insist on a right handed bias with binders, work station set ups etc.  The  point of the exercise was to be aware of how to deal with differences, some of which might not be easily recognized, in an emotionally intelligent way.  I gave this as an example of how easy it was to stumble.  An unscheduled break later, the lead HR person got up and apologized for the lack of sensitivity.

Did anything change?  No, well not from HR (lack of buzzwords, probably) perspective.  (Yeah, I wasn’t a fan of most of our HR group.) I reached out to a colleague in our risk engineering department.  He oversaw workplace ergonomics internally and externally. Actually worked out ergonomic training for his staff on setting up workplaces that understood that handedness matters.  Also developed training for his staff, that went to other businesses workplaces where they did risk engineering services, to work with customers on understanding how handedness matters in workplace design. (Goal is actually to make workplaces handedness neutral.

October may just be a perfect time to visit Arizona 😁

How tough is it to get tickets for away games ?

It wasn't Harris though, it was Ben.   So stupid.

Embiid and Butler with Maxey would be a real contender, not a pretender.

Easy to get tickets, just know it won't be cheap.

Picking Harris over Butler never made any sense. It's hilarious.

Feels like this should be the other way around since Carson technically left us but whatever. And don’t know about others but literally zero excitement here for Carson’s return. Couldn’t care less.

They didn't pick Harris over Butler.  They picked Ben over Butler.  Ben and Butler wasn't going to work, and one of them had to go.  Once they decided the one to stay was Ben, Butler was gone as a consequence.  They then had to keep Harris, because they couldn't lose both, meaning blowing ALL their acquired assets for two rentals.  Just bad management of the situation, and it all centers on their evaluation of Ben Simmons... just like they screwed up in their evaluation of Markelle Fultz, giving away MORE assets with nothing to show for it.  At #3, they might have still landed Fultz anyway.  The Celtics weren't taking him, they were going with Tatum the whole time.  Lakers likely still go with Ball... and if not, adding Ball would likely have been better than Fultz anyway.

This team has been mismanaged since the day the NBA stepped in and forced Hinkie out.  Colangelo is brought in to conduct a 'search', and selects his son as the best option?  Really?  That was a shocking move.  Just grotesque mismanagement, and we'll see another superstar win nothing in Philly, while the team struggles to put any other pieces around him... Barkley, Iverson... It nearly happened with Doc!

Hinkie would have won the SuperBowl!!!

And would not have thrown away all the Sixers picks.

That headline, LOL, stupid bot.

It will be interesting to see Carson back, but I'm hoping for one of his "what in the Carson Wentz was that" moments.

As a kid, I perpetually had ink or lead on the outside of my left hand from dragging it across whatever I had just written.
