Shapiro seems to be doing pretty well so far.  Our gas is still way too f'n high in PA compared to other states though.

I think they cut the tax by 3.5 cents per gallon starting Jan 1?

I mean.... for you neanderthals who are using dino juice to fuel your cavemobiles I guess that's important.

Part of that is because the gas tax is used to fund state police coverage of over 1,000 municipalities in the state that don’t have their own local police and don’t pay for the state police coverage out of their muni budget.

Don’t worry.  PA is going to start charging us heros a yearly fee to own an EV to make up for lost gas tax.

Dude, it's a debacle. Doubt it passes, and likely overturned by the courts if it does. But it will (further) destroy this state.

I was actually looking at houses in Aspen yesterday...

I feel like there is a proverb about heros taking pain so you don't have to and I wanted to use it here.  But when I googled it everything came up herpes.  <_<

So then you're not leaving the state?

US has a federal exit tax

Leaving a state and leaving the country are different things. And the "exit tax" isn't really a tax. It simply makes you write up assets to FMV and pay cap gains taxes like you sold them. It's not an additional tax -- it just forces a realization on assets.

jokes aside, governments do need to figure out an alternative way to pay for infrastructure.  Fast forward to a time when the majority of vehicles on the road are either hybrid or fully electric, and there will be a huge funding gap if still relying on the gas tax to fund highway construction.

Well here's hoping it doesn't go through.  What an insanely stupid idea.

I propose a blocking-the-road-to-protest tax.  The protestors are using the roads, after all.

On a serious note, what are the fines for blocking traffic? Let's bump those up because whatever they are now aren't deterring these clowns enough.

She needs to take the Hot Tub Time Machine back 20 years to see that people starting out back then were living with roommates because they couldn't make ends meet on their own either.
