Putin was bound by law to cede power to Medvedev in 2008 and he didn't return to the Russian presidency until 2012. You can consider that the point at which he put a vice grip on the position. So... he wasn't even in a position to invade Crimea until Obama was starting his 2nd term. Like... that's just how it all worked out. He wasn't sitting around as prime minister scheming on Barry. He was spending his time working out his plans to be Russia's forever president. 

Two years after it happened he invaded Crimea. It's that simple. But, in typical MAGA fashion, you take the intellectual long way around just to arrive at the wrong conclusion.
