Harper saw only 39.1 percent of pitches in the zone in the postseason, 83rd out of 84 players (minimum 50 pitches). Boston’s Ceddanne Rafaela saw the fewest (36.5 percent).

Harper spent most of the season hitting third in the lineup. Phillies cleanup hitters posted a combined .720 OPS, which ranked 20th in baseball.

It was their lowest ranking out of any spot in the lineup.

The Phillies would benefit from having a true slugger hit fourth, even if it doesn’t mean a substantial increase in pitches in the zone for Harper. His chase rate (35.6 percent) was just a tick below his career-worst rate in 2022 (35.7 percent). It was 33.4 percent in each of the previous two seasons.

Perhaps he makes an improvement there with a big bat hitting him.

Perhaps the Phillies re-sign Kyle Schwarber in the offseason and hit him behind Harper, like he did earlier in the season. If Schwarber signs elsewhere, the Phillies could turn to a free-agent slugger like Pete Alonso, who is a Boras client.

It’s highly unlikely, however, the Phillies sign both, based on their payroll situation

At least they got snell’s count up to 29. Meaning if they can get him out by 6th it’s huge for them as dodgers bullpen isn’t great.

The thing that worries me with the jays is their starting pitching isn’t that good and their bullpen is just ok. They’ve gotten by with it all year but then again i really think the AL besides the Mariners didn’t have great pitching so they could get by.

I said during in the Phillies series, you cannot give them extra outs or giving them Outs by bad base running/bad at bats. They are too good of a team and with how they’re playing right they’ll capitalize on it

Varsho had a bad first at bat. That at bat did the job

Winning game one is really big for the Blue Jays. the Dodgers set up their rotation to have glasnow pitch game 3 and Ohtani game 4. Glasnow used to play for the rays so the jays have seen him a lot more. And the jays numbers against him are very good and good scouting report. Whereas against Ohtani, they really didn’t get to see him all that much as a pitcher with the angels and their numbers aren’t great. Frankly, think it makes more sense for Ohtani game 3 and in a potential game 7 rather than glasnow.

Blue jays really need to win this. Snell has not been as dominant tonight as he has over the last month. his location isn’t there and giving them opportunities.
