Phillies trying to back into playoffs

Marlins have the better pitcher tomorrow against the brewers but that doesn’t mean much as the marlins can’t hit worth crap. Really we are likely going to have sweep the nats and hopefully win 2 of 3 against the Astros with nola, Ranger and falter going.

Let's face it. The Phillies are perennial cellar dwellers. Every now and then we get lucky. And then there's seasons like this one where they jerk us around, have us thinking big, until September rolls around. Phillies must be the worst team in September in the history of baseball.

They do have the most losses of any baseball franchise and sports franchise. We are top 5 according to statmuse of teams that still exist

If they are less than 2.5 up with the tiebreaker by the Astros series they aren’t making it.  They likely don’t win a game against them

Giants are still not eliminated, and are on a winning streak at the moment

The Giants would need to win out and the Phillies and Brewers lose out for them to make it.

The Brewers are 1-3 against the D-Backs

I have zero expectation of the Phils earning a playoff spot and a high expectation of the Brewers also stumbling enough to get them in anyway.

The brewers played the dbacks right around when the Phillies went to Arizona. Dbacks were playing really well at that time. Won 9 of 11. Since then they’ve gone 8-15 and Merrill Kelley  really did not pitched well in September.  Gallien has been amazing but the rest of the team has come back down to earth. Still could see the brewers losing 2 of 3. Cause the matchups are likely gallien vs. woodruff, Henry vs. lauer and Kelly vs. burnes

Kind of expected the Astros to use these guys as they basically have a week off essentially until their next game as a the no. 1 seed. The question is how long will they go in each game cause I’m guessing they’d probably not go 100+ and just trying to keep them normal routine and schedule of pitching and avoid rust next week

There’s a chance at least one of these games gets moved until after the Astros’ series which at that point might make no difference and gets canceled

I can’t believe we have to start gibson. Mr. 9.53 era in September and 5.6 second half.

As if there would be any other alternative than him Fing bombing. Just terrible.

His era since September 1st is 10.23. Second half i believe is over 6 now. They should’ve prepared eflin to go 2-3 innings in starts and piggybacked him with thor who’s era is at least below 5 since coming at 4.59

Gibson is toast

Gibson…another total loser

Thomson should’ve pulled gibson after the 4th. Basically tempting fate after he gave you 2 good innings after his horrific start.

Of course in a 3 run game we go to white flag nelson who implodes. Thomson should be gone with gibson and a few others

Nola, Hoskins, Robertson, segura can all go as well

Getting blown out by the worst team in baseball. Embarrassing.

this team's culture is a dead rotting corpse compared to the eagles,  it's so broken like it needs a complete rebuild from the ground up. it has to start from Lehigh to the phillies.

Agreed.  At this point blow it up trade harper and hopefully have a clue when drafting

i think the bright side is that lehigh is playing well, so maybe we should bring the pieces and coaches up here and see what they got. it might take some time and lumps but it's better than this team right now.
