I wish there was a station carrying the game out here in the Harrisburg area. For years, I could listen on ESPN Radio and then CBS for a few years, but I guess those deals ended and there was no desire to re-up.

Idk i think Robertson is better as a set up guy. I might go Alvarado as a closer. He’s been great since about midway through the year and he has closer experience.

Yup, it's blocked as soon as you exit the Philly market.

I know these games don't mean anything but holy hell, can they at least act like they have a pulse? Are they really gonna go into the playoffs getting shutout in back to back games?

Right now Alvarado and Eflin are the only two guys in the pen that I trust at all.

Yup. Once knebel and dominguez got hurt the entire pen besides Alvarado really went up in smoke. I’m guessing dominguez, Alvarado are back. I’d bring back Robertson on a one year deal. I’d like to add 2-3 arms

Who are these teams with all their starters in their mid 20s and playing at a playoff level? There’s like two in the entire sport. 
 

The alternative to signing these guys was to continue to watch Scott kingery and Odubel play baseball and finish the season with 75 wins. Instead they spent an F ton of money and got into the playoffs. 
 

I just don’t get what you’re so upset about. On one hand these guys all are old as hell and suck, and on the other hand you think some teams are just going to trade all their superstar young talent for them. 

I was listening to Sirius radio and before the series and Tuesday night before Suarez started I really thought they should go Wheeler, Suarez, and then Nola if they win game one. If not go Wheeler, nola and Suarez. The more I heard them talk about that’s what the Mets are trying to do with Scherzer, Bassitt, and then go deGrom if they win game 1 it made me feel less comfortable doing that. They talked about, everything a pitcher hast to do before the start and throwing them off their normal routine. And degrom supposedly strict in his routine. Additionally, if you win game one and game two (good problem to have), then you wouldn’t start a guy like deGrom for 14-15 possible days and it might throw them off in their first start the next series cause of not pitching in that long.  with nola it would be closer to about 12 days.  

that said if the Phillies want to win this series i tend to think our best odds are winning it in 2 games cause game 3 it’s gonna be a Suarez and likely falter if Suarez gets hit around. The odds really drop for us then. I actually think the we match up well in game 1 and 2 regardless of whether it’s Quintana, wainwright or mikolas. Game 3 i think any of those 3 likely Favors the cards over the Phillies and Suarez

Quintana and Mikolas games 1 and 2.  Should be some good pitching duels.

I mean going 0-10 against the rangers and cubs is ridiculous. If they just go 4-6 they are in way long ago but playing the Mets.

It makes sense as vierling is hitting .295 vs. lefties and marsh since coming to the Phillies is only .174 vs. lefties

They only have 2 players over the age of 32 (Gibson, 34 and Robertson, 37)and both of those guys probably won't be here next year. 

Harper, Schwarber, Hoskins, Nola,Suarez, Dominguez, Alvarado, Bohm, Stott are all under 30. Castellanos is 30. Realmuto is 31 Wheeler is 32.

They have the #1 pitching prospect in all of baseball on the doorstep. 

The core of this team is either in their primes or just entering it. 

This is a significantly younger team than the 2008 squad. (They only had 4 players under the age of 28 - Hamels, Victorino, Madson and Kendrick.)

They have $83 million in payroll coming off the books next season and they'll probably sign multiple top free agents. 

Yeah, things are terrible.....

I said at the deadline it was a shame the Indians were winning their division and likely to make the playoffs cause theres a good chance they are gonna eventually deal Bieber. Unless he takes a team friendly deal he’s gonna get paid more than what cleveland usually pay cause of the market and his contract runs out of arbitration in 2024. I wouldn’t trade painter for him but i would do McGarry and Abel to get him as Bieber is only 27 years old and just had a 2.88 ERA, 200 IP, 198 Ks to 36BB, a 1.04 WHIP and a 3.6 WAR. If you had wheeler, Bieber, nola, painter and Suarez that’s a ridiculously nasty rotation if painter is as good as advertised.
