August 11, 20205 yr Possibly the dumbest answer. We are playing 60 games not 162. Aaron Nola’s going to only pitch 12 starts. How the hell is he going to be tired after 12 starts. Even if he pitched all nine innings of 12 starts that is only 108 innings and he’s not going to pitch that many anyway.

If our bullpen is so bad we cant hold a 12 run lead then we're trying to squeeze blood out of a stone this year anyway and might as well take him out in favor of long term health.

Oh that's right, that mental midget Klentak promised him a roster spot if he signed. If Klentak is still the GM in 2021, I hope that all Phillies fans just tune this team out because that would mean that Middleton doesn't care one damn ounce.
August 12, 20205 yr you get the feeling he’s going to walk and the excuse train is going to come out about how covid changed their plans.
August 12, 20205 yr 1930 Phillies had the worst bullpen in MLB history with an 8.00 era. With the sub-60 game season, the 2020 Phils could eclipse that.

August 12, 20205 yr I think the sensible move here is to commit to Spencer Howard's development and place in the rotation. Use VV to bolster the pen. He hasn't always fared well in his pen appearances, entirely due to the fact that he has no control and pitches like a shortstop with a big arm, but he may be semi-salvageable as a guy who only sees the lineup 1-2 times.

You’d think but the Phillies tend to do the opposite of what’s smart. So I’m guessing they say howard needs more time and go valesquez and then VV implodes and forced to go back to howard. HARPER AND SEGURA!

August 12, 20205 yr Across baseball, no one has gotten hits this season. The Phillies bullpen ERA is around 10.
