Why I was at least happy they forced them into having to pitch Suarez and hader today. I get there’s an off day tomorrow but at least you forced them into having to use them and got to see them up close for the first time in a while so maybe you figure something out down the line with them. I really didn’t like them going with Robertson today. Basically with no days off from game three to game seven he’s pitching every other day. We know he can’t pitch back to back. So for a week he’s pitching every other day. That’s a lot for him and he has a calf issue going on. You were better just giving him the extra two days off and then going every other day game three, game five and then game seven. It sounds like giving up but down 3 with Suarez and hader you were better off hoping gibson could manage a couple scoreless innings and Robertson with two extra days of rest might be a little healthier
October 20, 20223 yr Blowing that game will probably cost them the series. Musgrove going Friday is most likely a loss, and then the Padres have all the momentum. Lots of confidence coming back from down 4-0 too. Regardless, they went a lot further than any of us thought.

I actually think the first inning of game 3 is gonna tell us how that game is going to go. If Suarez comes out rolling and we can get to musgrove then it really changes the dynamic. The difference today is in SD the crowd once they chipped into the lead could get behind them and an avalanche started. If Suarez comes out dealing and they hit musgrove early it could be an avalanche on the side of the Phillies. However if Suarez is walking guys left and right like atlanta and our bats look as miserable as they did from the 3 inning onward then it could unravel fast for us. i just really have a strong hunch we will know what direction the game is going by the end of the first.

I think realistically you gotta at least win two out of three going back to San Diego for game 6 up 3-2 with Aaron Nola on the mound. The season and World Series comes down to Aaron Nola being either the hero or faltering in game six At that point.

That being said, I think we'll be fine. We're WINNING this Series!

I do think they need to be up 3-2 going back to SD to win it. They can’t be down 3-2 cause they aren’t winning game 6 and 7. 14 minutes ago, JohnB said: apparently Nola doesn't beat the Padres though. Maybe he's not the guy to do it. Took the loss 1-0. If we can somehow get back to San Diego up 3-2 with nola going game 6 that is still in our favor. The Phillies have hit snell for 3+ runs each time they faced him (twice got 4). Just got to at least win 2 of 3 this weekend.

October 20, 20223 yr Well, a very sheety loss but the bigger picture still says the Phils did their job and got a split. Now they need at least two but far better to close it on Sunday. Realistically, we are going back to SD and it is going to be very very tough to win the series.
October 20, 20223 yr Yesterday is definitely a mood changer for the fans but did everyone think....yeah, we are going to win 8 games in a row and win the World Series? Definitely sucked watching them blow a 4-0 lead and even worse, only score 4 runs in the first couple of innings when it seemed like they should have had like 10. But I am enjoying the post season, I'm enjoying the fact they made it this far the way they did! Lest we not forget the 6 run 9th inning that started this whole thing! Don't forget the performance by Harper, Schwarber's bomb, the 6th run 9th, Wheeler and Nola's pitching (well before yesterday). They can still win this series just as easily as lose it, let's just settle down and see what happens.
October 20, 20223 yr I think the negativity is a bit over the top. It was one loss. Before the playoffs started, if I had told you they’d not only make the NLCS but take it back to Philly with the series tied at 1-1, every single person here would have taken that in a heartbeat. It’s the most recent game so I get how that can affect your view of the whole series, but the fact is it was one game out of 7. I still feel good about their chances.

Too early to start panicking. **** loss but we have three straight games at home. Just need to take 2/3 this weekend.
October 20, 20223 yr I actually think the Phillies go falter in game 4 as he’s a lefty which matches up better and how Thomson talked about game 4 last night saying it’d be similar to a game like game 4 against atlanta but wouldn’t say it was thor.

October 20, 20223 yr If we go gibson after a game 3 loss we might as well just skip it and go to game 5.
