Goal is to win series not just one game, game could have been won with Suarez staying in and saving bullpen

Can’t win the series without winning games.  YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME

Like I said game could have been won and would have been with Suarez going longer and saving Pen, there are no good relievers left for tomorrow, Alvarado and Dominguz are not going to pitch, good managers play to win BOTH game and series, thomas played this game like it was game 7 world series

You don’t know that. All we know for sure is what happened

Huge win.  If they can somehow win tomorrow……

You don’t know that. Just because Suarez was pitching well doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have given up runs if he had gone another inning. I mean just look at what happened with Musgrove when he went back out in the 6th.

Personally I probably would have left him in, then pulled him if he gave up a hit. But it’s crazy to say they definitely still would have won if Suarez pitched into the 6th.

No it was not guaranteed but the way he was pitching it was likely and it would have saved the pen, elimination game you go all out, there was no need to go to pen that early

He probably could have just pitched all 9 and started tomorrow too

Ridiculous comment, no one said he had to pitch 9 innings

6-5 in their next 11 equals parade.

I'd prefer 6-0 in their next 6, but this is Philly.

The crazy thing is that if they win the WS they will have more wins in the postseason (13) than they did in September(11)

What an incredible turnaround.

Larry Andersen was saying he believed Suarez had "tweeked” something based on how he kept digging in the mound.

My concern with Thomson is he is managing like he has the late 90's Yankees bullpen when in reality he really only has 2 guys that can be trusted. Heck, even the 08 Phillies had more guys who were a lot more dependable than what they have now( Durbin, Eyre, Romero, Madson). It's worked out for him so far but my fear is he keeps pulling the starters at low pitch counts and burns out the bullpen which costs them a game.

He didn't, Thomson explained why he took him out

I'm not sure if Falter is going to go 3 or 5 or 6 tomorrow, or if Thor can make up the difference to 6 or 7.

It would be really nice to dial up one of those 5 HR 11 run explosions from the Phillies bats, like game 4 of the 2008 WS.

The bullpen already has been burned to the ground and maybe 4 games left, people are acting like it is game 7 of world series, that is when you go all out, you have to try to win but also be smart, it is not a one or the other choice, both can be done

According to Matt Gelb on twitter they just want him to go once through the order and that is it <_<

Yeah Thomson won’t say his pitcher "tweeked” something.  He’s not going to disclose something minor like that. (Not in the middle of a game interview)

But Larry Andersen typically is spot on with this stuff.   He knows Phillies’ pitchers tendencies, tells, habits, etc.  He said it may have happened in the 2nd inning because he kept digging the mound after that (something Suarez doesn’t do normally)

The bullpen was 3 total pitchers throwing 4 total innings after a day off.

They have Thor for 2-4 innings tomorrow if needed.

It depends on how he looks.  He was really good in his last start.

His ERA is 3.00 in 8 starts since August. That's 9 runs total in 7 of those starts and one 6 run shellacking from Atlanta.

Really feels like tomorrow is going to be whoever gets to 7 runs wins the game. If the Phillies win it means you got wheeler and then nola to potentially get to the World Series. If it’s the padres got a huge game 5 followed by nola vs. snell
