What was the over/under on runs? It had to be close to 11.5.

37-24 phils

Wow!  2nd game ever.  Unbelievable.

What do the analytics say about going for 2?

Now here is the problem, Padres have better relievers available

Go for 4 on the grand slam!!

Yeah however i don’t think the padres wanted to use Martinez this early. I’m guessing their plan was get 4 out of clevinger/another pen arm. Then go Martinez 5 and 6. Suarez and hader for 7-9 innings. Martinez, Suarez and hader are the ones who are really good right now.

Gotta sac Harper home here.

Many people said start Syndegard, he is the better option, not great but better

I would have done that.  At least he’s a bona fide pitcher.  He grooves in a flat fastball…and maybe I’m just stuck with the image of what he used to be…but I still feel like at least he’s a real starting pitcher.

He said it could end up 15-14

That Martinez curve/breaking ball is really tough to take.

Bohm swung at 2 consecutive ball 4’s.

Wherever the Phillies are after 6th likely going to seal their fate in this game. If they are tied or behind they are in a lot of trouble. If they are ahead they are going to be in a good position to win it.

It’s amazing how much a good pitcher like Martinez stands out in comparison to the other 3 we’ve seen tonight.

I don’t know the Padres well enough.  Are they going to be a crap show on the mound again once Martinez has to exit?

Seriously? Brogdon?

no, was critical to tie that game there

They have decent pen arms but they are hittable outside of Suarez and hader. Really their plan was to get to the 5th and go big arms of Martinez, Suarez and hader to finish it out. Using Martinez this early was likely not their plan. Their pen has been good but really Suarez, Martinez and hader have been unhittable. Other guys are like what hand and bellatti are for the Phillies.

Yea, this is not the game where you can afford to not sac someone home with 1 out and a guy on 3rd.

Thats like failing to punch it in on first and goal in a shootout in the nfl.  You’ll regret it.

Well we got a 1-2-3 inning. Although two of those balls were smoked by profar and soto

Brogdan is lucky they just kept hitting hard line outs directly  to Castellanos.

That’s sort of what we’re hoping for…some hard contact outs to quickly get out of innings.

Getting innings out of brogdon that aren’t implosions are huge for us.

What’s the word with Mike Clevinger?  He used to be an ace…injuries?

When you need to survive bad pitching, the key is no walks.  Sometimes hard hit balls are outs.  Solo home runs don’t kill you.  Stringing together base hits is never easy.

Even bad pitchers should be able to avoid the walks.
