October 29, 20223 yr Here we go, need to strike again this inning. Would be nice if Marsh could surprise everyone and get on base. 2 minutes ago, e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! said: The issue is the FA market for pitchers are Bauer, degrom, verlander and rondón. Verlander is going back to Houston. Degrom reports say if he leaves the Mets it’s atlanta. I think rondón is the guy they’d go after. But I’d you miss out on him cause I’m guessing he has a big market then it’s Bauer or bust. Not sure who takes a chance on him. After that unless you are dealing for a big time pitcher. Likely hard to see that as i don’t think Bieber gets traded in the offseason. He’s likely gonna be with cleveland until the trade deadline to see where they are. im guessing painter is very likely their 5th starter who has potential to be an ace. Suarez is likely your 3/4 starter. I think they go after someone like eovaldi or Quintana. And go big after Turner or Correa I’d keep painter and I’d not be against dealing Abel and McGarry if they could get someone like shayne Bieber Have to hang onto Painter and hope he’s our next Hamels.

However I’m 100% for trading McGarry and Abel who are really good pitching prospects if they net Bieber. The rotation of wheeler, nola, Bieber, painter and Suarez is filthy.

Go look at what pitchers have two years left of arbitration. Those are usually the guys that wind up getting traded. Over the next two years, there’s not many of them who are aces and you have to have the prospects to deal for them. That’s why I said Shane Bieber is a guy you would like to get from the guardians, because they’re probably not gonna pay him and he is going to become available. He has 2 years left. Usually the smaller market teams with these big-time pitchers don’t trade them until they get closer to the end of their arbitration. Around a year to year and a half. The issue with making a trade is you have to have the prospects in your farm system and willing to give them up to acquire that player. The Phillies aren’t gonna trade Andrew painter who is the number one pitching prospect in baseball to do it. The guys below him I’m the system are good, but it might not be as good as some other team who has better farm system and can offer more like the Dodgers or the Yankees or the Astros or the Braves. I think they would go after rodon when he becomes available after he ops out. But if they don’t get him it is gonna be really hard to trade for an ace pitcher, because not a lot of teams don’t put them out there unless their arbitration is close to being up or they are out of contention and during the offseason not many teams think they are eliminated yet Also, Rhys Hoskins as nice of a player as he is, is not getting you an ace as his arbitration runs up after 2023 and he’s gonna get a hefty contract at 31.

Good time for a Bryce bomb It’s amazing in September that they were so Fing bad. i think the last week of the season we talked about if they could just somehow just get in then maybe all of the pressure of not being in the playoffs for a decade theyd just play better. And that seems to be exactly what happened.
October 29, 20223 yr I actually dislike removing nola from the game now. He finally looked like he settled in and got back on track and was at 81. I’d have tried to get him through the 5th and have Alvarado go to tucker to start the 6th or whenever he came up

I’d have tried to get him through the 5th and have Alvarado go to tucker to start the 6th or whenever he came up I feel the same way but I sort of stopped questioning the hooks from Thomson. Nola was uncomfortable all night and that was the closest he’s looked to settled in. Of course, Nola through the meat of their order with how he’s pitched tonight could get ugly fast. I think the scoreless, easy 5th they just had was worth it.

I wouldn’t have let tucker face nola again at that point I’d go Alvarado. Just now, nipples said: Real quick work for Alvarado. Have to think they’re giving him another inning? I’m guessing he’s definitely out there next inning to pitch to the lefty tucker.
