That’s poor job by the two guys inserted into the lineup today. 2 is still manageable. Giving them a 3rd feels like you are really tempting fate when Valdez had 25 consecutive quality starts. followed by they got 1 run in 5 innings against their bullpen last night. The Astros are super good but the Phillies aren’t helping themselves when they are making poor mistakes in the field.

It should have been a textbook play - no room for giving up extra runs to a team like this.

Yeah can’t give the Astros extra runs. They are way too good and runs in this series for the Phillies are likely at a premium in a game against Valdez and likely McCullers. Phillies might not do anything hitting the ball tonight as they look completely lost at the plate right now. Valdez looked more shakey early when he walked a couple batters the first couple innings. Looks more locked in now. if Wheeler goes out there gives you 6 innings and they only get two earned runs off him that’s a pretty good start. Just shows the margin of error in this series is much much thinner than the previous 3.

I’ve seen people wanna move bohm up but he’s currently struggling as he’s 1 for his last 13. If he was hitting better right now, I would make that decision with him. I actually think the guy they should try to do it with is Bryson Stott. Starr is actually hitting really well right now in seeing the ball really well. He takes a lot of pitches so if they have to work themselves around Harper, the next guy coming up where they have to work just as hard against Bryson Stott could lead to an pitch that he crushed. Stott is 4 for his last 14 and has two walks. So he’s hitting .286 and has a OBP of .375.

October 30, 20222 yr Author Vierling and Sosa are solid. They just need a chance. Unlike the rest of these bums. Ya, I'm looking at you Rhys,JT, Castecanthit...

I feel like some of that might be skewed due to september he had a ridiculous 13 game stretch where he hit .381 but the rest of the season was hitting .226

If I’m the Astros I’m pretty confident knowing the two best pitchers the Phillies had to throw gave up 4 earned runs and 5 earned runs and neither made it past the 5th. Meaning we are likely seeing worse pitching the next 2 games where we should be able to score and we still have good pitching coming up. If I’m the Phillies I’m happy i got the split considering my two best pitchers were not good but unlike the previous two series it feels like the Astros have absolutely destroyed us the first 3 innings of the first two games. We are always playing from behind. our bullpen which has been good so far this series isn’t enough if our starters keep giving up 4 or 5 and make it only 5 innings. I’m the padres and Braves it felt like the Phillies were better than them even when they lost a game to both. However this feels like the Astros are just better and we are fortunate it is 1-1.

Typical Philly team to give us false hope before eating it.
October 30, 20222 yr Looks the Stros are still at their cheating ways. Phils need to scream loud and hard about this.

If the Phillies lose game 3, it doesn’t look great about a potential game 4 victory as it’s a bullpen game for us and they have Javier going. If the Phillies win game 3 then you at least have nola and Wheeler for games 5 and 6. Just gotta hope both pitch immensely better those two games.

So he might be breaking out of his playoff slump. He had really been struggling entering this game. He went 3 of 4. Hopefully alvarez doesn’t wake up cause that is really frightening. Really the Astros top 4 in the lineup have killed the Phillies tonight. They went 6-14 with 4 RBIs, 5 runs scored and 1 BB. The rest of the Astros lineup (5-9) was 1-13 with 2 BBs and 3 Ks
October 30, 20222 yr Our two aces can't even go 5 innings, the Astros are gonna score double digits the next 3 games
