So he might be breaking out of his playoff slump. He had really been struggling entering this game. He went 3 of 4. Hopefully alvarez doesn’t wake up cause that is really frightening. Really the Astros top 4 in the lineup have killed the Phillies tonight. They went 6-14 with 4 RBIs, 5 runs scored and 1 BB. The rest of the Astros lineup (5-9) was 1-13 with 2 BBs and 3 Ks Yep. Gave the wrong guy hope. And that one extra run in the first is going to cost them tonight. WTF Gamecast said he hit a HR then they said he FO.

October 30, 20223 yr With no outs, he crushed a ball that was a home run to all appearances but just foul. It was actually 5-3 on the scoreboard had to be overturned on review. Next pitch, he hits one deep to center that ultimately dropped a few feet shy of the fence into the outfielders glove. He had two near-misses on back-to-back pitches.

October 30, 20223 yr Syndegard game 4, suarez game 5, means if it goes 7, it will be Syndegard starting there, that is just not good.
October 30, 20223 yr I still feel good about this team. It's a miracle we got this far, and I know there's a lot to nit-pick about, but we're the best "team" in baseball and I still think we're going to win this Series.

Going down 3-0 in back to back games against the Astros with our two best pitchers is far more concerning as they’ve been basically rocked I feel those 2 changes hurt. Stott is great at bat, just for the simple fact he makes the pitcher pitch a lot. Marsh would have made a better throw to 3rd as well. Time to sweep at home and the home fans can celebrate together with the team!

Vierling is hitting .295 against lefties and marsh for the year was .188 and since he got here .173. Sosa was hitting .419 vs. lefties since coming here. But really a lot of vierling and sosa’s success against lefties came against teams like the Nats, pirates, marlins and teams like that. Against someone like Valdez I’m not sure the whole righty vs lefty matters. Right handed batters are hitting .229 and lefties are .192. So either way you see screwed. He destroys both. Additionally stott since July 1 has been hitting .317 against lefties. So he’s been fine. Stott is too good and too many quality at bats to have him sit right now. There’s an argument to be made he should be moved up in the lineup with his at bats and quality of the at bats. I actually think next year they should have him leadoff and move schwarber down in the lineup. If they sign turner I’d love to see stott, Turner, harper, realmuto, schwarber, hoskins, castellanos, bohm and marsh. If castellanos remembers how to hit that lineup 1-9 is absolutely ridiculous and 1-6 you are lefty and then righty so late innings is going to be rough on teams trying to matchup
October 30, 20223 yr I know it’s way too soon to talk about but this offseason when Carlos rodon opts out of his contract, I think the Phillies should really go hard after him. Because next year going to run into rotations that can go three deep all of whom could be considered aced especially if you get back to the World Series and the Astros are there waiting for you. Not only that, he is a big-time pitcher who is a left hander. For the Phillies, you have nola and Wheeler who are both right handed going back to back. I actually think it would help you if you have wheeler and then Rodón then nola and then Suarez. Going righty lefty right lefty. Plus, when you get to the postseason, you could always use Suarez as a left-handed option out of the bullpen, which helps your bullpen massively when you’re trying to get out lefties late in a game. And hopefully painter is up here and he could also bolster your pen
October 30, 20223 yr Apparently wheeler’s velocity tonight was down 3-4 mph on his fastball and he had some location issues early in the game. I wonder how much that hall nailing him in the back of the leg is affected him tonight. I’m the moment he likely could get by off the adrenaline but a couple days later it could be bruised and sore. Hoping 12 days later (if we have a game 6) it’s feeling better
October 30, 20223 yr Well, let's be real, this almost has the same feeling as the San Diego series, winning game one and losing game two. The problem is the Astros are way better than the Padres. Last night's game....just seemed every bounce, pitch, play went the Astros way. Every time the Phillies had a chance, it was just missed. My biggest fear/problem....the Padres had the same pitching depth issues we have, the Astros....not so much. My hopes are somehow we scrape out 2 out of 3 in Philly somehow....then....divine intervention in Houston.

If they had known they would have gone more in. The problem is nothing is guaranteed as the 12 year absence shows us. We had our Nick Foles magic moment, but if that was a best of seven series it wouldn't have worked out as it did. I hate the media being right but the only way for them to win is to be perfect and that isn't them. They make a ton of mistakes and have been lucky nobody capitalized until now. I do the reverse jinx thing, but I'm being serious the next few may rip our hearts out.

But this was a memorable run and if they make the right moves they can get back here next year and be better positioned to win it.
