Let's not give up on the Phillies blowing it just yet.

I don't think I would say (if they lose) they are "blowing it"....that Astros team is deep, experienced and honestly just better.  Can the Phillies still win?  Sure!  I just think it's a real longshot is all.....but totally 100% loving their run and playoff baseball.

Yeah, that line of thinking is built on the reverse jinx thingy

It’s easy to hit when you know what pitch is coming

McCullers has had a good year but it’s been a small sample size for sure. He’s historically a decent pitcher. We’re not facing DeGrom or something here though it’s a very winnable game.

Well at least one team will win in Houston this week

What’s nice is we’ve actually seen him when we had to win to get in. So it’s not the first time like it’s going to be Javier. I’d say it didn’t work with framber but really the Phillies kind of went through the motions on the last day of the year

This is series is not going back to Houston

You think the Astros are going to win three straight in Philly?

This is exactly the trick I thought you were pulling on us. Classic Joey Sunshine: You just never know when the doom-and-gloom might be flipped on you.🤪

Ideally would love to see the Phillies win 3 in a row at home against the Astros to win the title. The Astros have only lost 3 in a row 3 times all season and last time was end of July (other two much earlier in the season).  they have been swept by a team in a 3 game series once this year which surprisingly was to the A’s.

I look at it this way the Phillies have to at least take 2 out of 3 at home to give themselves a chance to win the World Series. They cannot be going back to Houston down 3 to 2 because I don’t see us winning both game six and game seven in Houston.  if you are up 3-2 heading into game 6 that’s the game they really need to end it. Game 7 is going to be an issue for us.  game 3 is massive. if they lose game 3 then you likely in a spot where you have to try to win 3 in a row vs. Astros with Suarez, nola and Wheeler going the next 3 games. Cause game 7 you would be in a situation where youd have Suarez on short rest or a bullpen game for game 7 meanwhile they’d have McCullers on normal rest.

hoping we sweep the Astros at home but I think just 2 out of 3 at home gives us a shot in game 6 to bring home the trophy

The Astros hit around our top 2 starters….it may get ugly against Syndergaard and Ranger

Tbh that’s what really scares me a lot. The fact we had our two best and they hit them. I actually think Ranger can give us a quality start. I think his confidence is sky high right now. I’m more worried about syndergaard tomorrow. That said during the regular season syndergaard had two starts against the Astros. He’s 1-0 with a 2.89 era in 9.1 innings. Although had 6 walks and 4 Ks.

Is that a pornstar or some $hit?

The winner of tonight’s game will win the series.

No....... she's a gal that does hula hooping....... someone on the old board sent her Eagles boots..... that she did a video wearing them...... but if I understand correctly..... someone on the old board went over the line with her.

Pretty gal.... talented too. Shame someone scared her off.

Idk, that doesn't worry me any more than I already was.

Also, wheeler and nola were clearly not at their best in their two starts. They both threw complete clunkers and had control issues. Not taking anything away from the Astros but it's not like they were at their absolute best and still got rocked.

Decent chance of rain during the game tonight. South Philly gets drizzly this time of year, has me harkening back to '08 when the game got suspended for rain and had to be resumed the following day.

Win this one and they’ll win the series IMO. I’m oddly confident in Suarez for game 4.

The issue is who knows if they will be at their best in this series. This is back to back games where nola didn’t look very good. Maybe he turns it around next start, but there’s a chance he doesn’t. also wheeler’s velocity was down in game 2 from the start. Was similar to before he went on the IL. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if the ball that hit him in the leg is still bothering him.  I’d add both wheeler and nola on extra rest are both usually much better. Nola for his career is a whole run less in his starts on extra rest.

The Astros strikeout the least of any team in baseball. They make your pitchers work harder. Nola saw that first hand against tucker who had 2 strikes battled and fouled off pitches then unloaded a 3 run homer. Just pointing out we can say our two best had control issues and clunkers but the Astros this postseason have hit against good pitching: gerrit cole, Robbie ray, Luis Castillo, Cortes, nola and Wheeler. They also hit severino and Logan Gilbert who are top of the rotation type pitchers. The only starting pitcher the Astros have really struggled against so far this postseason was in game 3 vs. the mariners in Kirby.

I understand what you are saying, I guess what I mean is just because they hit Nola and Wheeler doesn't then mean they are going to score an additional 5 runs on top of that against Syndergaard. Just too many variables in baseball, this stuff always happens where you have aces giving runs or random rookies pitching 7 scoreless, just the nature of the game sometimes.

The point is, the Phillies have to score a lot of runs to win this series in my opinion, and then the bullpen has to shut the astros down many times. We all knew it would be an uphill battle, but I think it's certainly possible with this team.

Wheeler and Nola's starts have almost nothing to do with what happens the next 5 games. It's 1-1 and it really doesn't matter much how we got to this point.
