Tbh I don’t think the extra rest was really predicated on the analytics of how he looks when he gets an extra day. I think this is going to come out after the World Series that they did it because of that ball that hit him in the leg. I still think he’s bothered by it and they were hoping that the extra day it might’ve healed a little bit. I tend to agree if they’re down 3-1 he’s definitely going to go. Up 3-1 i think it’s more of a toss up. I’d start him to try and close it out. Then again it’s two extra days rest for game 6 if he goes then. Add on if he’s not right game 5 and you lose then you are in a world of trouble for game 6 starter where it’s framber vs. syndergaard. With how verlander has looked this postseason they might view verlander vs. bullpen game with syndergaard starting and wheeler on 2 extra days rest vs. Valdez Is the better option  

I’d start him up 3-1 or down 3-1 but I’m just trying to see it through their thoughts and play devils advocate.
