Off topic, since we're down 5 at the moment, but has anyone noticed how teams have shifted from hiring guys with no managerial experience (Kapler, Matheny, etc) as an outside-the-box hire to career baseball guys that served as bench coaches, like Thomson, John Schneider in Toronto (who is from Trenton and went to the University of Delaware, by the way), Matt Quatraro in Kansas City, etc.

I wonder how much Thomson's success will play into other teams hiring bench coaches.  The White Sox have been interviewing bench coaches.

It's probably not a coincidence that guys with years moving up the ranks have won the World Series recently, like Dave Martinez with the Nationals and Brian Snitker with the Braves, while people like Kapler and Matheny ended up being frauds in the playoffs.

Is it hard for batters to adjust their swing to swing a little higher then they think? They keep hitting under the ball. Serious question as I don't know.

I’m back to wanting Nola gone.  Just falls apart in the biggest moments.  Not sure it would’ve mattered since they are getting no hit anyway but still.  That’s likely the series.

Tonight wasn’t going to be their night anyway, so I can’t put that on him.  The bases loading absolute collapse was really bad, but forgivable. I can’t get over the back to back to back crap starts.

No choice but to hope for better next year, but 3 consecutive starts like that are tough to get over.

This team had a lot of guys with no experience or negative experience in the post season.  This has been amazing for fixing that problem.  I just worry how hard it will be to recreate Schwarber working counts, Harper being Babe Ruth, and Rhys channeling his rookie season all in the same stretch run again.

Imo Harper recreating this run is the hardest part of it. I’m not sure you see this type of postseason run from anyone let alone him doing it again.

Gonna be epic, pull a guy with a no hitter and then lose the game.  Let’s go Phils

I think it's just the Astros' pitching depth coming into play.  Someone on here singled out Javier before the season even started as a #2 starter in most of the league.  It certainly looks like it tonight.  Now the Phillies apparently have to face Verlander, Valdez, and Javier to finish the series.  Baker just needs to keep that joker from last night off the mound, and he has the advantage from here on out.

Tbh this is how the Phillies season would go to be no hit in a World Series. Like everything else has happened this year with this team so

This is like Eagles GDT. So now I'm gonna do what I do... LFG Phillies!!!! We got this!!! Heart of our lineup is up. We need 3 or more runs here! LFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FLY PHILLIES FLY!!!

Well Javier is going to be on short rest on Sunday if it gets to that and he threw 97 pitches. I’m doubting you are getting more than 1-2 innings out of him on short rest after throwing basically 100. They are gonna need McCullers and their pen

True.  But their bullpen is better anyway.  So would Baker go with McCullers in game 7?  Or go with a bullpen game and start Javier and have all hands on deck?  If the Phils figured out McCullers, then maybe they can beat him again, otherwise the Astros may have the advantage the rest of the way in basically every inning.

I’m guessing since dusty is old school he goes McCullers for game 7. The Astros have the advantage due to the Phillies starters besides Suarez have been absolutely pathetic. Offense is pathetic tonight. The Phillies have really slim chances winning this series when wheeler and nola in 3 starts have gone 13.1 innings and given up 12 ER.

that said I’d be surprised if we get to a game 7 if we lose tomorrow

Struck them out. Some momentum. Now we need the 1st 2 batters to get on base and we will start rolling! LFG!!!

How did the Braves beat these guys last year?  I didn't pay attention to that series, but obviously something worked out.  I imagine the Astros were just as good last year ans Snitker figured things out enough to make it through.

Astros pitching and bullpen wasn’t nearly this good. Valdez was solid but not this dominant. They didn’t have verlander last year. McCullers actually got hurt and didn’t pitch after the Alds. Their rotation for the World Series was Valdez, Luis Garcia, grienke (not what he once was) and urquidy. Javier was a bullpen arm in the series.

F this. One of the most sickening loses I can remember as a Philly fan.

At least this only ties the series up.  The Joe Carter game and Super Bowl 39 are much worse than this.

Kind of feels like one of those deflating losses where you just don’t recover or where in the regular season the Phillies don’t hit and look like crap for a week.

This could be the 2nd ever WS no hitter and 3rd ever playoff no hitter and 1st ever bullpen no hitter in the playoffs right?  Am I missing something?

Carter hit and it sucked, but the pain hit us fast. This was 9 innings of utter BS following false hope yesterday and two more games of pain that are certain to come.

Third playoff no-hitter ever, and two of them would be at Citizens Bank Park

It hit us fast,  but more importantly the pain lasted for a full 15 years.

I would also say the last game at the Vet against the Buccaneers was much worse than this.

There is a difference between hurting more and being this sickening.
