I would say this series is like the 2001 NBA Finals more than anything.  Iverson stepped over Lue in game 1 and everyone was ready for the parade.  Then the Lakers took over from there.  The Lakers were always the better team.  The reality is that the Astros were the better team from the start, and now we're seeing it.  The "false hope" from last night was cockiness that the Phillies had the series won just by winning a second game, much like the cockiness from the Astros before the series started that they would cruise to the championship.

Carter hit and it sucked, but the pain hit us fast. This was 9 innings of utter BS following false hope yesterday and two more games of pain that are certain to come.

Joe Carter, the Bucs NFCCG, and the gradual deterioration of the Lindros/Leclair Flyers were my hardest Philly sports pills to swallow.

The next rung would be SB39 and 2011 NLDS.

Again, difference between harder to swallow and sickening to watch because this is drawn out for 3 1/2 hours after the high yesterday knowing they are done and have to watch 2 more loses after.

I think opening 3 of the 4 games with 5 run leads demonstrates the gap.  The Phillies rightfully pounded the Astros last night, but this is a fluke away from being a 3-1 Astros series headed into a Phillies bullpen game tomorrow.

The Phillies really have no business being tied 2-2 right now considering their two best pitchers are 0-2 in 3 starts and pitched 13.1 innings and given up 12 ER. Add on 2 of the 4 games the offense has disappeared. I love the Phillies and I’ll watch them to the bitter end but feels like this series is over with how they have hit the last 39 at bats. They have 1 hit over that span. Frankly besides the 5th inning tonight, the Astros hitting the last two games has been as bad as the Phillies last 39 at bats

Game and the series is over. They needed tonight and Nola f'ed them over hard. He's a POS that always falls apart. He can't give up one run he has to blow the whole f'ing thing.

Yea he and Wheeler are both Fing us, our two best pitchers have given up damn near every run this series. Nola picks the absolute worst times to have his garbage games. This isn't what aces do

are you guys serious? We didn't freakin' score!! Yes, they gave up runs, but the offense didn't even show up

Yeah the offense has no showed since Rhys went yard. Javier made them look awful but i also think some of last night’s success went to them. I think they got so caught up in this team of destiny that they looked like they didn’t have energy all night and they couldn’t feed off the crowd cause they didn’t give the crowd anything to feed off of.

To be perfectly honest I’ve seen this from the Phillies during the course of the year. They have this blow their wad type of game and then for like a week they forget how to hit a baseball.

that said it is really hard to win a World Series when your 2 best pitchers go 13.1 innings and give up 12 earned runs. And neither one of them has made it past the 5th inning. The offense has sucked two out of the four games but are starting pitching three out of the four games has been bad.

Yep. He got lucky getting out of a few innings before imploding....at freaking home with the fans behind him. There is no excuse. Wheeler is tired, which sucks, but that happens. Nola is mentally weak and honestly has no place on this team going forward. That's 3 starts in a row in big games where he ate it because of how weak he is mentally. Ranger on the other hand goes out there and smokes them. Get Nola the freak out of town.

When they are already facing an ace who's dealing and their pitchers give up 5 runs....that's deflating as hell. I'm not saying they mentally checked out, but we could have seen a different game had they kept it close with 2 maybe 3 runs.

They are screwed now.

I don’t disagree with you. Actually, I am with you on that. I think when the Astros got down 4 to 0 yesterday they mentally checked out as soon as Schwarber hit his home run. I think that happens in baseball more often than not when you play team that’s pitching really well. That’s why I’m surprised that the Phillies were able to get themselves back into game one and win that game. Cause I think if you get a two or three run lead in this series, you are likely not coming back from that. And that’s really what we’ve seen so far outside of game one.

Not what you want to wake up to. Honestly though, they’ve been playing with house money the entire playoffs so hard to get too down.

Seems like they are cooked but win tonight and go try to steal another one in Texas.  Sports can be funny and especially baseball.

We win one today and we win one on Saturday

It’s over.  It was a magical run but the Astros are way better than them in every way

Tonight is everything.

It’s a bullpen game vs Verlander.  No chance.  It’s over…for real this time
