November 4, 20223 yr Wheeler gives us a good chance at winning game 6, then anything can happen. We are playing with house money at this point.
November 4, 20223 yr Oh well, we'll always have the NL Championship. Until this time next year anyway.

November 4, 20223 yr It'll be interesting to see if Thomson does anything to the lineup. If they come out tomorrow night with NC in the 5 hole again, then it would be apparent to me that he would rather lose his way than win doing something else. He is doing his team a grave disservice by keeping him in that spot in the lineup, like he is some hall of famer who doesn't deserve to be moved. I would throw his ass in the 9 spot in a heartbeat.
November 4, 20223 yr Well, if they do somehow win both games in Houston, it will be the greatest sports story ever told. That being said, it was a fun ride, Harper is a legend.

Which who knows what you are gonna get. Fritz is right about a dead arm. One day it can feel completely useless and the next day you could wake up feeling amazing again. It makes a lot of sense why they wanted the extra day that turned into two.

Fritz played baseball in college and James has connections within the Phillies. If James is saying it then he was likely told by someone that it’s what Wheeler is dealing with. Even if they did hit Valdez gonna need a starter to go at least 4-5 and right now I’m not sure you get that from Wheeler or anyone not named Suárez Valdez is healthy so it’s an issue. Also he didn’t have to nearly pitch as much down the stretch of the season. The biggest problem the Phillies ran into starting 22-29 is that they had to use guys like nola and Wheeler more down the stretch cause they had to win games just to get in. Meanwhile Valdez the entire second half of the season always pitched on an extra day of rest. So they saved him about 4 starts doing that due to where they were in the standings and just overall pitching depth

November 4, 20223 yr We were at the game last night. Super great atmosphere. An awesome experience even though they lost. Hoskins is so very frustrating to watch. We were basically like just don’t even swing. You can tell JT is struggling and worn out. Seeing a Schwarbomb was fun.
November 4, 20223 yr I think the Phillies lose on Saturday. Frankly i don’t think it’s gonna be as close as last nights game cause I’m not sure you can keep asking the pen to be as great as they’ve been for this long. i thought Alvarado and dominguez aren’t nearly as crisp as they were in the first couple rounds of the playoffs. That said if they somehow figure out a way to pull off a game 6, i actually feel better about their chances in that game then his game. All the pressure in the world shifts to the Astros who were the heavy favorite to win, were up 3-2 and at home to close it out. Add on of the last 4 WS game 7s, the road team has won. I think playing at home in a game 7 can be a detriment as the nervous energy builds and pressure gets bigger the deeper the game goes if you are tied or behind. that said, i really have a hard time seeing us pulling out game 6. I’m gonna watch but i feel like game 5 they let it slip away with the amount of RISP they stranded and bad fielding.

November 4, 20223 yr Lol why is nola starting a game 7. I rather have Suárez starting. Suárez on 3 days rest is giving you likely an inning i trust the pen right now to get me through that inning then nola to give me a good outing on 3 days rest

Thomson said Ranger is available in game 6, IF needed. If not used in game 6, I would fully expect Ranger to start a game 7.

With Suárez, he’s only gonna be on 3 days rest. Meaning you’re only gonna get one inning out of him in game 6. With how the pen has looked, I trust I can get that one inning without suarez then nola giving me anything worthwhile on three days rest in game 7.

The NL has 7 teams vying for spots. Maybe the dbacks jump up but they are playing in a hard division. Frankly i think brewers and cardinals take steps back. Mets are about to lose Bassitt and degrom. I believe Diaz is a FA too. The Phillies of they add someone like rodon, a couple bullpen pieces (not of the familia variety) and have painter as their 5th starter would be much better talent wise than this year.
