I f'ing hate Hoskins. Not only does he suck but he has no IQ. Goes up and swings at the first pitch when he just walked a guy. Same with Sosa...so it's on the manager for letting them swing away.

The F you talking about? First pitch to Sosa was in the zone. Then he hit a ball that would have been out in a lot of parks.

If that was in CBP it’s likely gone or hits the top of the wall on the turn from left and center

Yeah, and they aren't in the Bank. I'm more pissed at Hoskins, but either way I'd like to see him get his count up and feel more pressure.

I can’t be mad at sosa. Might have been the best pitch and contact he was gonna have that at bat. Rhys on the other hand has been bad since he hit that homer. So he’s a whole other issue.

I think I'm still pissed at Hoskins for doing it in game 5 and taking it out a bit on Sosa.

Rhys is his own worse enemy. But the Phillies as an organization did not help him either. Gabe Kapler and Klentak change his swing after he got called up for no reason when he was hitting really well and confident. And then they changed his approach to where he’s just looking to get walks and on base and he let a lot of pitches go that where should swing out and could hit. rhys has his own issues defensively and some of his at-bats are just ridiculous but the Phillies as an organization really didn’t help him when he was younger. actually hurt him.

I am actually ready to move on from hoskins because he doesn’t field it well at all. His arbitration runs out and he’s 31 and I don’t wanna pay him the money that boras is going to ask. Also, he can’t be the DH because you have Castellanos and Schwarber.  one of those two guys ideally you want being a DH every night

In terms of DH I think Schwarber has been fine defensively and he’s much faster than he looks so no major need to DH him imo. 

 

This is the 5 game losing streak version of the team. Too bad it couldn't have held out a couple more games. Oh well. They are what they are.

I don’t think the Phillies want him playing LF 140 times per year. I think the plan was always platoon him and castellanos in the outfield when harper is healthy to keep them fresh.

I don’t necessarily disagree but he’s shown to be decent out there.  Could always use him in right field as well.

I think the ideal plan is move both schwarber and castellanos to first. Let them platoon were one plays the field and the other DHs. Find a good fielding corner outfielder that can hit. That way when harper is back you have a good fielding outfield and solved an issue at first when hoskins arbitration runs up. I don’t see them paying hoskins at 31 the money he and his agent boras are gonna ask for.

If they plan to move on with Rhys I would hope they give Hall a decent chance to start at 1st.  Then maybe some sort of platoon when he DH's etc.  They really need 1 more OF who can hit above .250, with 25+ HR's and an OPS over .800, imo.

That was supposed to be castellanos who could also DH. But he’s been an epic fail this year. Gotta hope he turns it around next year. Otherwise gonna wind up being stuck with him and eventually just designating him for assignment and eating the money.

I think Castellanos can turn it around.  Seems like he has 1 off year followed by 1-3 good seasons.
