Only about 15 weeks til spring training.

I’m guessing with how long this run left that harper is unlikely back until May

Great job getting to the series. Way more than any of us expected.  Too bad the bats went about as ice cold as possible for 3 straight games.  See you guys in Clearwater.

I'm somewhat disappointed with the way "they went out".  They were on fire leading up to the series all the way until they went up 2-1.  Unbelievable season up to that point.  (It still is, without question) But the bittersweet part is the past 3 games - knowing we were better than that.

Still proud of this team and what they accomplished this year!  :phil:

Still a much better than expected year. I can live with it, but how they react to this is going to be very interesting to watch,

Way i look at the offseason these are the moves the Phillies need to make:

— you gotta find another starter that’s good enough to be able to pitch meaningful starts in the postseason. Not thor or gibson but someone that is capable of stepping up if nola and Wheeler arent at their best in one or two of the games. The Phillies had Suárez but no one else. Can’t have that in the playoffs. Difference was the Astros when McCullers and verlander stunk in games 1 and 3 they still had guys like Javier and framber Valdez able to come through and save them. The Phillies didn’t have that safety net. i actually think rodon along with painter being your 5 would really help.

— need to add 2 bullpen pieces. Can’t be this BS familia type of signing either. That signing was awful the moment they did it and they could’ve used the money to get actual BP that didn’t suck or weren’t useless. Knebel was unfortunate cause he turned it around.

— I’d move on from hoskins. He’s too hot and cold with his bat. And his defense multiple times in this run cost you. Plus after this season his arbitration runs up and he’s gonna be 31 and ask for a lot of money. I would use him in a deal to get some BP arms back. Then promote Hall having him play first until harper comes back from his elbow. See where you are at that point. Could always move schwarber, bohm or castellanos to first then try to find a player at their old position.

— if they don’t sign a front line pitcher I’d guess bogerts, Correa or Turner is going to be signed. I’m guessing Turner. I’d probably make turner 2b and keep stott at short.

— have stott be your leadoff guy with schwarber batting second unless you get turner. If you acquire Turner go Turner, schwarber, realmuto, harper, bohm, stott, hoskins, castellanos and marsh.

Hell of a run. We’ll be back. Tip of the cap to Astros pitching, they were ridiculous all postseason. You can’t win a series if you don’t hit for 4 straight games.

Yup.

Castellanos is back next year. You are stuck with that contract. Gotta just hope he snaps out of it and figures it out. No one is taking in that contract that has 4 years remaining. Hoskins can definitely be traded as he’s on the last year of his arbitration and I’m guessing you’d either move schwarber or have hall play first.

What exactly was he supposed to do about the lineup? Pretty much NOBODY has been hitting.

Bohm was seeing the ball pretty well. If he bats 5th Harper might have seen some better pitches because a guaranteed out wasn't coming up next. Also, when guys are in funks sometimes you ride things out and sometimes you mix things up. This would have been a time I mixed things up.

On to next year. Get that guy from Japan, trade Hoskins, move Castellanos if you can, get more arms for the pen, pray Painter will be ready, and get another starter.

I’d get rodon for multiple reasons. 1. Wheeler is 33 next year. He’s not young. Rodon is still young at 29. So you are gonna get his best prime years and he’s a lefty that you don’t have besides Suárez. 2. Nola is a FA after 2023. There’s a chance with the innings he pitched this year that he comes back and has what hamels did in 2009 which was a down year. 3. great pitching beats great hitting. The Phillies couldn’t hit great pitching and they’ve spent a ton of money on that lineup. I’m guessing stott and bohm improve and if castellanos remembers how to hit that lineup gets better. I’d go rodon i think he makes you matchup with the Astros better so you don’t get a verlander vs. syndergaard game 5

I kinda feel bad for Nick that he made the last out.  That has to be a pretty rough way to end a subpar season for him.

The Phillies and the fans all blew their loads after game 3

Fun team, fun run, just not enough to close it out. Hopefully, they can get back again next year.

Yeah if next year was 2030

You probably aren’t going to win a series scoring 0, then 2, then 1 run.

Fun post-season, even for a non-baseball person like myself.

same old sillies..

Our team song was about a guy who finished in 2nd place

Here's my offseason wish list :

1. Say goodbye to these guys: Chris Devenski, Kyle Gibson, Brad Hand, Corey Knebel, David Robertson, Noah Syndergaard

2. Decline Segura's option.

3. Explore trades for Hoskins. Cleveland needs a 1B/DH... Package him with one of Abel/McGarry and other prospects for Shane Bieber.

4. Sign Trea Turner

5. Sign Masataka Yoshida

Lineup:

1. Schwarber DH/1B

2. Turner SS

3. Harper DH/RF (if elbow is healthy)

4. Realmuto C

5. Yoshida LF

6. Bohm 3B

7.Castellanos/Hall/Vet FA RF/DH/1B

8. Stott 2B

9. Marsh CF

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in a veteran 1B and going with a platoon there

Rotation:

1. Wheeler

2. Nola

3. Bieber

4. Suarez

5. Painter

Sign some ring chasing veteran relievers to replace Hand, Robertson, Knebel

it was a great run. I'm really proud of the team and getting as far as they did. I would have loved to win 2 out of 3 at home (assuming we had to lose either way) but still, they really rallied this year and gave us all something to believe in.

Yeah, I hope they aren't stupid and bring Segura back. But I love this.Yoshida would have to be the DH from what I read.

I enjoyed the run and am a four for four guy but that song was too corny for me.  I'm glad everyone had a good time with it though.
