Guthrie hits a 2 out double then Trea hacks at the first pitch and grounds out to short for the 3rd out. 0-3 with 2 k's so far. Right now he is. However the pitcher for the cubs has been excellent all year. Before his last start against Houston his era was 1.82 through 8 starts. Then got shelled against the Astros. Steele is gonna be a really good pitcher. They should’ve sat Turner today and not yesterday. Asking for his slump to continue against Steele
May 21, 20232 yr Castellanos tags on a fly to short right and predictably gets thrown out at third. Why would you do that with JT up?

Mr. nice guy manager isn't gonna fix it so I'm sure we will continue to keep seeing the same crap throughout the season.

What’s amazing with Thomson is how dangerously close he was to not being the manager going forward if the brewers didn’t collapse the last week of the regular season and then they got to a ws and now is the trusted manager

May 21, 20232 yr Got the win. But really we should be using soto or dominguez as the closer not kimbrel. Neither have been spectacular but both are better than kimbrel.
May 21, 20232 yr Marsh and Turner are the white versions of Herrera and Gregorious, Turner seems like a low energy guy that got his money and is going through the motions, completely opposite of Harper in his first year, Schawrber sucks but hits the occasional long home run and some how that is supposed to be good enough, Realmuto is in decline, Nola overrated, wheeler best days behind him
May 23, 20232 yr Starting pitching is becoming very concerning. Are there any prospects down the pipe line that have #2 type potential?

May 23, 20232 yr 15 hours ago, Khani1 said: Starting pitching is becoming very concerning. Are there any prospects down the pipe line that have #2 type potential? Yea 3 of them. Painter, Abel, and Mcgarry. Painter is the massively hyped one but is on the fast track to losing 2-3 full years of his career by not pitching at all this year and getting TJ next year. With how Phillies top prospects pan out, I don't even think of him as being in the pipeline at this point. He's going to have to prove himself all over again before we can bank on help there. Abel and Mcgarry are very legit high upside pitching prospects in their own right. They are only in AA and Mcgarry will probably find himself in the bullpen if he gets rushed. IMO, he's still young enough with a diverse enough arsenal to project as a starter, but he's going to be a bullpen guy if he gets fast-tracked. Abel is only 21 and has front-end stuff and frame, but isn't even mowing them down in AA at the moment. He is probably a late season call up next year. Of course, if the Phillies get desperate, they could move one of those 3 for more immediate help. I wouldn't like that, but the pressure to win is there.

Im fine if the Phillies deal McGarry or Abel to get Bieber from the guardians assuming they lock up Bieber long term.
May 24, 20232 yr Well finally got some hits with runners in scoring position. So that’s good. better win this game cause gallen vs. Suarez tomorrow is gonna be ugly Of course dominguez gives it right back the next half inning. Fantastic.
May 24, 20232 yr If the dbacks were smart they’d walk castellanos and force schwarber to hit with RISP where he’s been awful batting .128 and that’s exactly what happened

May 24, 20232 yr Our hitting with RISP is dreadful outside of bohm, castellanos, marsh and sosa. Avg with RISP Stott .227 Turner .175 Schwarber .128 Harper .143 Casey .286 Realmuto .231 Bohm .321 Sosa .259 Clemens .125 Marsh .286

The 2023 Phillies were an underperforming team that got hot in the playoffs. It really seems like the Florida Panthers right now: underperforming in the regular season (defending Presidents Trophy winners) and squeaking into the playoffs, then firing on all cylinders and everyone playing as they should at the right time.
