July 9, 20232 yr Just now, John Blutarski said: Nola another bomb. He SUCKS. They need another hitter, but they also could use another front line starter. Wheeler has been great at times and bad/mediocre at times. His Era is above 4. Nola it is what it is. suarez has been solid up until the last two starts after a rough start. And Walker has shown in the past two years his second half is where he drops off. Don’t see them winning through the playoffs (assuming they make it) unless nola or wheeler become what they were last year
July 9, 20232 yr Aaron Nola is obviously a problem and we all know that he sucks today and all year he’s look like 2009 Cole Hamels where there’s moments where he looks good but for the most part he’s been underwhelming. But realistically our situational hitting Fing sucks. They are one out away from being swept by the Marlins in the series if they don’t come back and they’ve been bad hitting for all but like 2-3 innings. They haven’t been able to hit the baseball consistently since that 19 run output. this has been a problem all year. They get runners in scoring position and then can’t do crap. They might love Kevin long but at some point in time they’ve had the same consistent problem all year. So at some point the hitting coach isn’t figuring this out. Especially when schwarber, relamuto and Turner are all having down years and harper has lost all his power. None of them have gotten hot for longer than a week To a week and a half
July 9, 20232 yr Stott with 2 hits against one of the best lefties in baseball. He only played today because Harrison hurt his wrist. He has to play every day from here on out
July 9, 20232 yr take chase Davis if he’s there. He can be your replacement to Rhys. Kid has serious power and can do a ton of damage in CBP lol
July 10, 20232 yr Nola needs to be traded no matter what before the deadline. He won't help them win this year and you can't give him a big contract. Take anything you get and put it towards the cost of a real starting pitcher.

July 10, 20232 yr Miller seems like a great pick at 27. Tons of upside and it appears he can play all the corner in field and outfield positions.
July 10, 20232 yr I'll take where we are at the halfway point. Terrible start to the season, without Harper and Suarez for a lot of it. They bounced back and are right in the thick of it. The roster isn't finished yet. I'm optimistic that the second half will be better than the first, which should mean a playoff spot. Everyone knows this team is behind the Braves. Every team is behind the Braves really, no shame in it. Gonna take a while to get past them in the regular season. Luckily we've shown we can certainly beat them in a 3 or 5 game series. Part of me is glad Nola is pitching poorly. Now we don't have to pay him a billion dollars to be a solid #3 starter just because he's a nice guy and has always played here. Things that must happen second half to ensure postseason spot and then have success: - Get Schwarber out of the field (whether that's playing Harper at first and having Schwarber be everyday DH or whatever other option there could be) - Establish a top 3 starter. Whether that's by trade or by Painter coming up and being good enough. - Add another reliable bullpen arm. With Alvarado and Seranthony injuries we really need one more decent arm. - I don't think we need to add a right handed bat now with Pache's recent success. Unless he drops off a cliff offensively, I'm ok with rolling with what we have, its good enough. No need to trade a ton of assets to get someone now.

Couple of things — painter likely doesn’t pitch this year. We are in July and they are shutting him down again. I’d be surprised if he pitched this year and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t have TJ surgery at some point in the next 6 months. They can say it is healing but if it’s still Giving him discomfort then it’s still an issue — love pache but not sure you can just say let him play everyday. I’d have loved to see him play more but he got hurt and we couldn’t use him on an everyday basis due to harper having to be DH. Also Marsh’s splits vs. righties and lefties is why they wanted to platoon him and pache. He is hitting .300 vs. righties and .206 vs. lefties. — agree on another bullpen arm. Listening to gelb on the radio yesterday it doesn’t sound great with Alvarado. He thinks it’s worse than what the Phillies are leading on. — I think it’s gonna be harder to get a front line pitcher at the deadline. Frankly, it’s going to be Ohtani or Shane Bieber. And you’re gonna have to give up a boatload to get either one of them. Ohtani you’re only getting as a rental. I think getting a right handed bat is going to cost you less and there’s going to be more of them. The issue is I don’t think it’s gonna be a top tier bat. It’s gonna be more of a solid starter or maybe somebody you have to platoon with marsh/pache
July 10, 20232 yr These pitchers with elbow problems never end well. Painter we all know won't be pitching again this year at the minimum and now Alvarado? Hope he doesn't need some sort of surgery because that would be a huge loss.
