July 10, 20232 yr It's sad to say, but I think Kingery would even be improvement over what Turner has been giving us at shortstop. No I don't want that because I don't think Kingery is any good. What I want is for Turner to start hitting like he's supposed to.

Just saying we can bash turner but realmuto has been worse over the last month and I’d argue just as bad all year as turner at the plate and he’s batting 5 hole and has had a ton of opportunities to bring home runners. Batting .184 with RISP. Turner is not great at .256 with RISP. Last 30 games Turner is .280/.343/.434/.778. Last 30 games for realmuto he’s .228/.296/.500/.796
July 10, 20232 yr The second half of the schedule is way easier, wild card should be attainable but they need a starter. Nola is just too inconsistent to rely on and wheeler hasn't been lighting it up either. If we bring in a bat where do they go? LF? Once Bryce starts playing first: C- JT 1B- Bryce 2B- Stott 3B- Bohm SS- Turner RF- Castellanos CF- Pache/Marsh? LF- Marsh/? DH- Schwarber If they acquire a bat my assumption is they're gonna want him to be a regular starter and not another platoon. And then if they bring kingery back up where does he fit in?

Jt’s hitting .228 for the last month and has worse OBP than Turner over that time (under .300). his .184 with RISP is awful. he’s stranded the most runners on bases of any player on the Phillies on the year. since may 19th he hitting .197/.285/.415/.700 (a month and a half worth of games and he had that ridiculous dbacks series to make it look this decent) Also turner’s .778 OPS over the last 30 games for a shortstop would rank 4th in mlb at SS position. So if we are gonna hang our hat on Jt realmuto’s OPS is still good for a catcher over those 30 games meanwhile so is Turner’s compared to his position. and he’s got a better OBP and batting average over that time Let’s just be honest, neither one of them have been good enough at the plate this year and need to get going. we can just bash Turner buut there is way more than just him failing to live up to expectations and causing the Phillies offense to be this erratic. JT Realmuto has not hit with RISP position and is in a big slump for the better part of a month and a half. Bryce Harper has absolutely no power right now. Kyle Schwarber if he doesn’t hit a homerun is basically useless and can’t hit with RISP. Trea Turner hasn’t got on base and hit well enough to steal bases. So he’s not manufacturing runs for the Phillies or setting the table well enough. Castellanos, bohm, marsh and stott are about the only ones consistent and having good years or hitting to their ability. Id argue 4 of their top 5 highest paid position players aren’t playing up to where they need too.
July 11, 20232 yr As much as I hate watching Scott Kingery, Harrison is basically a wasted spot. Might as well.
July 11, 20232 yr Apparently a rumor of Phillies and arenado. Would have to include bohm and someone like McGarry. Frankly i don’t do it. We’d still have issues as bohm was actually hitting with Risp. Around .350. Arenado is better defensively and overall hitter. But you’d still have issue as Turner, harper, schwarber and realmuto are failing to be where we need at this time. We need to add a bat not just simply upgrade a bat. I’d rather deal Abel and McGarry and an outfield prospect and keep bohm. Move bohm to firdt and hope harper plays OF at some point
July 12, 20232 yr Not against it..... but nola needs to be moved and another arm brought in to replace him
July 12, 20232 yr He's freaking 32...stop trading for someone who won't get you over the hump and will probably fall off soon.
July 12, 20232 yr Gallen has 2 more years of arbitration but the dbacks do dbacks things like trading great players in their prime for prospects. Chance he could get dealt within the next 2 years.

July 12, 20232 yr Cardinals are open for business. Hopefully Dave makes calls on Arenado and Goldschmidt
July 13, 20232 yr Am I the only one who does not want more offense? If they wanna trade for a top end pitcher I'm all for it, but I don't need another underperforming bat at this point. If they guys that we're paying start playing up to expectations this offense will explode.
