July 18, 20232 yr I wouldn’t do that. Don’t think soto is worth all that. He’s a lousy fielder and i don’t care what good glove he was nominated for a couple seasons ago. He’s bad. And he’s a good hitter but i don’t think paying that is worth it. especially when I think next year, the Padres are gonna have to move them and you’re going to get him for cheaper than that and you know he wants to come here from all reports and he’s friends with Turner and harper
July 18, 20232 yr I don’t get the whole avoiding harper at first if he’s this close to doing it. Just put him there and see what happens. Need to see if he’s competent enough defensively over there before the trade deadline What’s funny is that Ricky Bottalico basically was saying the same thing I was about Harper playing first. You have to do it to figure out if he can actually play there over time. They have to put him out there sooner rather than later. The extra time they waste from now to the deadline without him playing first you don’t have as clear of an answer if he can play first base and do it multiple games in a row. you don’t want to get to the deadline with like three games or four games of info about him playing first base. That’s not enough data to confirm whether or not he can for the rest of the year. You really want at least 2 weeks seeing it to see how he holds up and if he gets better over the course of two weeks.

That's too much.
July 18, 20232 yr Yeah he’s not pitching this year and going to need TJ next ST anyway The 3 extra days really is ridiculous. He either can or he can’t by now those extra days aren’t making the difference
July 18, 20232 yr cortisomne shot for Alvarado isn’t great. There’s a chance if he has to keep getting it to subdue the inflammation that he has a Ryan Howard situation where it thins out the ligaments around the injection and it eventually tears.

That kind of trade would sink them for years to come after they just rebuilt the system. That's something you send the Angels after you work out an extension.

I’m not giving up something of value knowing he likely wants come here as a FA in 2025
July 18, 20232 yr Haven't seen any official from the team Twitter but Jim Callis is reporting that Miller signed an above slot deal
July 18, 20232 yr Lookin good right now but next inning is where Nola starts to give up the automatic 3-4 runs let’s hope that he doesn’t

Again having hall in the lineup is an automatic out and he’s also not a good fielder. Why they really should put harper at 1st and see what he actually is for a couple games. Also why bellinger makes sense. Can play OF and 1b so can DH schwarber some games and harper some games
July 19, 20232 yr Love JT but dude really needs to not be hitting 5 hole. Stott and bohm are better with RISP and way more consistent at it. If he showed more than 1 double of snapping out of it I’d get it. But he’s .188 for the season Jt before today was hitting .280 with no one on. I’d consider putting him at the 2 hole so if schwarber either hits a bomb or an out he is hitting in ideal situations

On a side note, I love watching Stott hit.

Him and bohm need to be higher than realmuto. Or move realmuto to 2 hole cause he’s hitting .280 with no runners on. Usually schwarber hits a bomb or is an out. So more ideal situation for him. Or put him 7th behind bohm and stott
July 19, 20232 yr Hall's days are numbered, it has to suck knowing you are on a major league team now but you will spend the rest of your baseball career riding buses in AAA

JT is killing run opportunities with his RISP and spot in the line up. Topper seems to be quite thick, so I don’t see anything changing.

I’d love to get paid to play baseball even if it were just minor leagues.
July 19, 20232 yr I’m going to assume Alvarado will be on the IL for most of the rest of the season…they may need another bullpen guy at the deadline also, especially with the uncertainty around Dominguez.
July 19, 20232 yr Quote "We’re not counting on him as depth at this time,” Dombrowski told Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. "Where he is at this point, he has tenderness [in the elbow]. He’s still dealing with that. I mean, you can just do the math. It just doesn’t make sense. I think basically as of a couple weeks ago when he had that [setback], in my own mind I thought that’s it for this year.” Dombrowski on Painter

He either can or he can’t by now those extra days aren’t making the difference I actually disagree with you here (and agree with the Phillies). If Harper flubs balls against the Brewers and the team loses, the beneficiary is a team (Milwaukee) that you're competing for in the standings. On the other hand, if they lose to Cleveland, it doesn't hurt them (double, I mean) in the standings. Basically what I'm saying is, if you're going to test Harper at first base, do it against an American League team or a non contending National League team. If he passes the test, then you bite the bullet and just go with him the rest of the way.
