They have two legit front of the rotation guys. Merrill Kelly has been really good this year. 2.97 ERA. Last night vs. reds he went 7 with 1 hit and 12Ks. Gallen might be the best pitcher in the NL and if he’s not he’s top 3. Their lineup is young and inconsistent but they can hit. Their biggest weakness is the bullpen. The other teams like SF, cubs, marlins and reds don’t have nearly the starting pitching 1-2 that can steal you 2 games with just dominant pitching. Dbacks in the #2 spot. Not good

Was a ball too. If you’re up 2-0 in the count, then you can wait to get a strike pitch he has to throw and drive it.

He saw the 2 guys in front of him get walked and he goes up hacking at the first pitch grounding into a double play. Sometimes their game situational awareness isn't all there.

I brought this up in the blog, they are third in the league at swinging at pitches out of the zone. They particularly Turner, Castellanos and Realmuto (schwarber when he’s ice cold) tend to do it more often. You don’t have to be as aggressive if the guy is missing the zone frequently. Let him have to throw strikes instead of chasing knowing he’s been out of the zone.
August 27, 20232 yr Harpers aggressive base running makes no sense to me. He thinks he’s speedy Gonzales and a routine base hit he thinks he can get 2 bases out of it.
August 27, 20232 yr Wheeler gives up a base hit and then removed from the game. What's the point of having him even go out there then?
August 27, 20232 yr Good lord, Castro doesn't even know the rules of tagging someone out. This guy is worthless.

Wheeler has been really against teams not named the nationals (had like 3-4 other so-so but he had two really bad starts against the nats and even his last two he struggled early). It’s pretty ridiculous how good his numbers our against everyone not named the nationals. Vs. nationals: 7.48 ERA, 1.43 WHIP (slash line .312/.323/.527/.850 and 18 ERs) vs. Everyone else 2.97 ERA, 1.02 WHIP (45 ERs)
