August 30, 20232 yr Trea is just insane right now. Since August 4th he's raised his average by 22 points. The way he's swinging it he could end up around .265, even pushing .270 if he really stays hot. Pretty crazy.

Which, when you consider the first four months of the year it wasn’t very good isnshoee impressive. This is even extremely hot for him but for his career he’s close to a 300 hitter. There was no way he was gonna be that bad for the entire year. History has shown in his career he’s been consistently around 300 and the worst he’s really been is around like 270 what really stinks overall is that of Rhys Hoskins didn’t get hurt and you had guys hitting like this I’m not so sure there’s another team in baseball that could match how good the Phillies offense could be. Sadly, if Rhys Hoskins isn’t back next year, we are never going to get to see that full lineup.

Obviously there would be other changes to the roster, but I'm not sure exactly where you slot Hoskins. I guess he goes back to first base, but he's such a defensive liability. Problem is you have both he and Schwarber that are both best suited for DH. Maybe Castellanos can switch to LF with Harper going back to right next season, Nick seems to have really improved his defense this year. At least then you only have one major defensive liability instead of two.

Cause your defense goes up dramatically. And they are solid hitters. Harper can play some outfield and some first base. If you put hoskins back at first and move Schwarber to DH then you have to play Harper in the outfield. I’m not sure after having his Tommy John surgery they want him playing outfield full time. The only other alternative I think that comes is if you believe Jt realmuto is going to be declined more next year and you can trade someone like Rojas to acquire a equally as talented young catcher for when Realmuto is completely done. They have a ton to outfield prospects with Rojas, de La Cruz and Crawford. Plus marsh and harper long term. Because they don’t have that guy in the system and he’s only under contract for two more years. there’s a chance by the last year of that contract he should be platooning with a young up and coming guy.

You stick Harper at first for the next decade and forget about it. Hoskins is gone next year.

Frankly they don’t need more hitting if guys like stott, bohm and marsh continue to develop. Then you eventually get Rojas and Crawford developing as well. They really need starting pitching and BP help next year. Nola can leave at the end of the year. Wheeler is a year older and is a FA at the end of 2024. Painter isn’t back til 2025. They really should allocate what they spend this offseason in acquiring another front line starter. Then try to add some more bullpen arms.

Must have had one too many beers, because I forgot about Marsh for a second there... But yeah, I have big expectations for Rojas next year. Ideally he'll be the everyday CF, so far he's been pretty equally adept at hitting both lefties and righties. Marsh really needs to work on hitting just a little better against LHP so he can be your everyday LF. He already kills righties, if he can just get a little better against LHP he can play every day. It's hard to see Hoskins fitting back in. Unless they trade Schwarber (maybe to add another SP?) and then re-sign Hoskins as DH. Then you've got a Marsh-Rojas-Castellnos outfield, can keep Harper at first base full-time, and Hoskins pretty much replaces Schwarber's production.

That's the most likely, because they love Schwarber, but I think overall they could be better off if they were to re-sign Rhys as DH if they can find a trade to ship Schwarber out for a solid starting pitcher to replace Nola.

Really good leader and clubhouse guy. And as maddening as his Ks are, he’s their best power hitter. Which Dombrowski loves in the postseason. As good as hoskins can be when he’s red hot, he is coming off the acl at 31. Usually takes one full season to get your power back. Considering his age, there’s a chance he never hits for the power we’ve seen in the past. I also think playing Harper at first will help him age better. It’s not as physically demanding as playing the outfield. Sadly, if Rhys Hoskins would’ve been able to play left field when they try to make that transition, he would make more sense to bring back. Because in two years when Kyle Schwarber‘s contracts up, you could just throw him into the DH role. The problem is he was horrific in left field.

Honestly rather just sign someone like Blake snell in FA. I think the only true studs that will be seriously available in the offseason are Bieber (dealing with an arm issue) and burnes because he’s a FA in 2024 and the brewers aren’t going to pay him. also if a team is trading a legit ace pitcher I’m guessing they are going to want young controllable prospects as they are heading for a rebuild.
August 30, 20232 yr The chemistry they have is pretty amazing. That really hasn’t been an issue all year. I want to join the scotch circle

August 30, 20232 yr Soto can't even throw strikes against a scrub team like the Angels. What's he gonna do against playoff teams? I don't trust that guy.
