September 28, 20232 yr Yeah - I mean if we can't beat the best we don't deserve to win it all, right?

The issue is more you have wheeler game 1. Everyone else on the staff you really don’t know what you are getting. There’s a lot of pressure on Zack Wheeler to win game one because game two and potentially a game three you have absolutely no clue what you’re going to get out of the guys. That’s the bigger issue facing gallen and kelly for the Phillies. It’s less so about the Diamondbacks having those guys as it is about asking nola and whoever to then win you two games when they’ve been super inconsistent all year. Granted if you get to a game 3 the dbacks have the same issue. Imo game 1 in that series is really important for the Phillies knowing how nola has been all year and pitching game 2. If we lose game 1 i can’t see anyone in Philly being confident with nola taking the mound in an elimination game.

September 29, 20232 yr Hate that they canceled tonight's game and scheduled a double header tomorrow.... Hopefully they bring up a starter from AAA as the 27th man and he's able to pitch 5-6 innings
September 29, 20232 yr And do we want Houston to beat around the Diamondbacks and have the Marlins get into the #2 Wild Card position? Both of them scare me a bit but I really don't want any part of Arizona for some reason.

I mean the dbacks have gallen and Kelly so they could win a best of 3 series if those guys pitch like they can. The marlins have just owned us over the past couple years (outside of 2022) and this year they were 7-6 vs. the Phillies. Playing at CBP but the Phillies really are going to have to swing the bats well after wheeler pitches game 1 that said if the Astros sweep the dbacks ( can catch the rangers as mariners could beat them twice and they tie for the division the astros hold the tiebreaker), reds sweep the cardinals and the marlins win tomorrow they clinch then the dbacks would be the odd team out.
September 30, 20232 yr If we played the Dbags, Gallen wouldn’t pitch until game 2 and Kelly until game 3. I think I’d prefer that scenario. Arizona having to travel cross country on short notice would be nice as well.

He gave up six the other day but he also was hungover from the night before when they celebrated. I’m surprised the Phillies won that game. In his prior 7 starts to his last he had a 3.27 ERA and averaged 6 innings per start. His biggest issue is that he had a high number of walks/HBP. It is just under 2.5 per start in the second half

Kid just seems like his confidence can't be shaken, would like to see what he can do under the bright lights.
