It was a-hole stupid to put him and the kid in. ML for the 8th. He was fresh and they haven't seen him yet. I didn't sleep all night. That really is one of the worst losses in Philly sports history. We agree they get rolled tonight and it's typical they give you hope and crap it away. The backup catcher talking trash has nothing to do with the Phillies beating themselves as they are put in horrible positions by their manager. I honestly hope he is fired when they lose. Before this year, they were 4-12 in the last 16 games in Arizona. They always come out sluggish and unfocused. Last night wasn’t any different. Two passed balls, bohm throwing a ball away and they scored a run off of it and Sanchez didn’t know how many outs there were and it cost them. This team in that stadium just hasn’t played well since the Howard, utley and rollins days. Issue is guys are just swinging at nearly everything. Castellanos right now is back in July and 2022 mode. He’s swinging at basically everything in the zone or out of the zone. He hasn’t had a good at bat since game 1. Bohm is giving harper no protection so unless the dbacks are forced too, they are basically pitching around him and hoping he swings at balls out of the zone just my personal opinion, when they got up 2-0 i think they thought this series was over and the dbacks would roll over and die. They’ve played like it the last two nights.

But it shows you they weren’t focus and as locked in going into Arizona. Against atlanta even if they were up 2-0 they wouldn’t have said thah. They were up 2-0 and they thought dbacks were gonna roll over and die. That’s the problem. And you saw it last night they played a sloppy game. you have 2 pass balls, you have a pitcher not knowing how many outs there are and bohm throwing a ball away. They didn’t play focused and wound up costing them the game as it led to runs. they aren’t gonna fire him. Right or wrong. However we have to admit dombrowski’s big offseason moves for the pen and deadline moves clearly didn’t work out the way he thought. Kimbrel was good for the first half and then became awful like he was with the dodgers last year. Soto has been a bad this year. He and Orion threw 27 pitches yesterday and combined for 10 strikes. Strahm and Hoffman are about the only one that’s worked out. And Hoffman was a shot in the dark after the twins released him and he wasn’t even expected to make the team. Lorenzen isn’t being used right now. Which frankly if they were pulling Sanchez early it should’ve been him for 2 innings to save Hoffman for the later innings.( also walker is making a boat load and they aren’t even gonna use him in the postseason). I said at the deadline, if you can’t add a right handed bat that they should really go after a bullpen arm. Because you didn’t know what you had in the ball pen at the time. Alvarado was still dealing with his arm injury. Dominguez was super inconsistent. Soto has been really inconsistent. Jeff Hoffman was about the only one who was consistent at that point. The Kimbrel begin sliding and you could see it. This is why you should almost always make a move at the deadline to get a bullpen arm. Because if you’re in the playoffs, you could never have enough bullpen pieces.

Even last night they showed it as realmuto with 1 out and runners at 2nd and 3rd does nothing. There’s times where they all go out in the score 10 runs like in game two. And then the next game they play they can’t hit a ball off a T-ball stand. As much fun as it was watching them hit homer after homer the first 8 games of the playoffs. Their biggest concern should have been eventually the home runs are going to stop and you’re gonna have to hit with runners in scoring position. The Phillies for most of the playoffs haven’t been able to do that at a good enough level. It was a problem in the regular season, this is where I say not having Rhys Hoskins hurts. You put him in the five hole or you put him in the four hole in the series, you likely are getting protection for Harper so better bryce. and you’re probably scoring more runs then you did in game three. The other thing is the bullpen has been inconsistent for much of the second half. Alvarado had their arm injury twice this year. He finally figured his stuff out in September. But Kimbrel, since the trade deadline has been awful as they overworked him the first four months cause they played a lot of close games. Dominguez and Soto are basically the same player but one throws right handed, and one throws left handed. theyre super inconsistent game to game week to week. Jeff Hoffman surprisingly has been the best reliever outside of Alvarado all year. nola turning the corner might be the one thing that’s been the opposite of what the Phillies have looked like all year.
