January 30, 20241 yr I know there’s a lot of guys still out there in free agency, but the Phillies really need to make another move somewhere. Because I don’t think they can just run it back is going to get you to a title. It ultimately wasn’t good enough last year. It’s likely not good enough this year as the dodgers loaded up, dbacks have added Rodriguez, a nice bat at third and a bullpen arm. As well as the Braves have added as well. I don’t know what the move they should make is, I still think their lineup has a problem. they don’t have enough guys who take pitches like Rhys would and grind at bats to wear down pitchers. They really could use better protection for bryce. Turner in front of him should be better this year. But Castellanos, realmuto, Bohm don’t really do it for me. I think you need more consistency. Realmuto a couple years ago could but i think he’s declining.

February 1, 20241 yr I knew they would be bad. I was dreading our City Connect year. 4 hours ago, Blazehound said: Who gets paid to come up with these designs? My god. Nike has the contract with the league to do this. They had it written in so they could create new, "innovative" designs (read: sell more shtty sht). Nike is also responsible for the swoosh on the front of jerseys instead of on the sleeves. They said they would pay any price that the league said to be able to do that.

February 2, 20241 yr Can’t believe the Phillies plan was to run it back with a team that had a historically bad collapse against the Dbacks. SMH

SMH and you wonder why philly teams never win dynasties because front offices always have their heads up their butts. like since when does not adding talent mean you are going to be better it's insane. and you wonder why dave got canned by the red sox.
February 4, 20241 yr You people are retarded. Half of the available Free Agents are still unsigned and the season doesn't start for another month and a half. They've literally spent the 2nd most money this offseason in all of baseball.
February 4, 20241 yr They need a bullpen arm and a righty bat to platoon with Marsh in LF. I'm not overpaying for anybody in this year's free agent class when you still have to extend Wheeler and are looking at a Free Agent class consisting of Juan Soto, Jose Altuve, Gerritt Cole, Corbin Burnes, Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso, Paul Goldschmidt, Max Fried, Shane Bieber, Tyler Glasnow, etc.
February 5, 20241 yr I think it's much more important to build a team that looks good on paper in early February than it is to have a team that's able to compete at a high level in September and beyond.

So true. With eventual heartbreak guaranteed, the promise during the off-season is really the best we can hope for.

I think he’s gonna get a blank check from the Yankees. Unless he just hates NY, I’m guessing that dream is likely over. the pitchers are much better but the positional players aren’t fits. Alonso would have to be DH or first. Meaning we’d either be moving on from schwarber or Harper going back to the outfield. Not likely. Altuve plays a position in which Bryson Stott is gonna hold for the foreseeable future. Paul Goldschmidt is gonna be 37. He’s a DH or 1B. So have an issue where he’d have platoon with schwarber or get rid of schwarber. Makes it unlikely as Harper isn’t going back to OF. Bregman makes sense if you are ok moving on from Bohm and eventually moving bergman to DH. I’m doubting Bohm is on the block to make that move. Soto or an outfielder makes more sense as potentially positional players as schwarber is up after 2025 and can DH in 2025. can have Soto or Castellanos platoon as DH and in the OF in 2026 so you have marsh and Rojas playing full time. Then again you have Crawford likely available by 2026. In 2027 have Soto as DH, Crawford, marsh and Rojas as your outfield. Unfortunately i still think Soto is gonna be given a blank check by the Yankees.

If he continues to get better - hit for more power - like he has over the past several seasons, he could eventually hit 4 on a more permanent basis. Last season he hit 20 HR’s with a .437 SLG, .765 OPS, 97 RBI‘S while maintaining a .274 BA. Prior 2 seasons: 13 HR/.398 SLG/.713OPS/72 RBI’s/.280 BA 7 HR/.342 SLG/.647 OPS/47 RBI’s/.247 BA That’s one heck of a progression he’s made. If he continues on that trajectory, I can see him eventually getting a stat line close to: 25+ HR/ .475+ SLG, .800+ OPS, 100+ RBI’s, .270 BA (Which would be more than fine for a 4 hitter imo)

He's basically in the bottom third of 3B and definitely not a cleanup hitter.

Fine if you want to use him in the 4 hole regular season but teams are going to pitch around Harper in the postseason to get to Bohm who couldn’t hit the same as he did in the regular season and really doesn’t have the ideal power you want to be a clean up hitter. His splits showed he was far better 2,5 and 7 in the lineup and really at his best 7th. I think Bohm likely can improve a little bit but he’s still not a cleanup hitter. I like Bohm but i wouldn’t be entirely shocked if he winds up getting dealt at some point to bring in an upgraded 3rd baseman defensively with a little more pop. as the cleanup hitter in the postseason he was 6-35 (.171) with 1 HR and 4 RBIs and 8 Ks. With Harper in front of him you have to be significantly better than that. Cause teams will either walk or pitch around to Harper knowing Bohm wasn’t very good in that role and doesn’t really have great power to make them pay
