May 17, 20241 yr The fact we are dumb enough to have a lineup with Castellanos and merrifield back to back is amazing. Neither should be hitting 5th or 6th right now. And neither should be back to back hitters even with Sosa and pache in the lineup

May 17, 20241 yr I’d have said bunted to move realmuto to third but Bohm has been great and Castellanos and merrifield behind him makes no freaking sense too again Castellanos and merrifield shouldn’t be batting 5 and 6 in the lineup. You don’t want them having more at bats than guys like marsh and Sosa who are hitting better.

May 17, 20241 yr They put up a good fight tonight, but the mistakes finally came back to bite them in the end. If they can somehow stop with the errors and mental mistakes then this team would be more complete. You will lose more games this way against better opponents so this is something I hope gets fixed

I am less irritated that they lost the game tonight. And more irritated about their lineup construction tonight. It makes no Fing sense. Not only do you have a guy hitting .200 batting 5th and the guy behind him protecting him batting .188 but you had three consecutive right handed hitters in the lineup. Quintana hadn’t been good this year. So it’s very likely that the Mets were going to go to a bullpen earlier in the game. So when you have 4 out of 5 right handed hitters and three straight it makes it much easier for the Mets bullpen to match up with that middle part of your lineup. Add on the fact that Castellanos is 2 for his last last 20 and merrifield is 1 for his last 20 being 5th and 6th is just dumb. 5 and 6 hitters were 0-5 with runners in scoring position tonight.
