Rojas can’t hit well enough to justify being an everyday player and Castellanos is too hit or miss. Rockies RP had a 8.38 ERA yet. None of our guys could do anything lol

Just go with a solid rental bat that’s going to be much cheaper. Unless they are giving up Rojas and McGarry in the deal as the package i wouldn’t do it. I’m guessing the marlins want someone like Abel or Crawford

The only thing I worry about is if they’re playing at this level and they have no shot at setting the wins record are they going to just coast the last month then have to turn that urgency back on. It’s a problem i think the dodgers and even Braves have had. That said losing the way we did to the dbacks i’d be surprised if this team isn’t completely focused throughout the playoffs. I think that loss taught them a valuable lesson. that said with how baseball makes the first wildcard the 4 seed and the central winner the 3, might be better off being the 2 seed. Cause the 1 seed is highly likely to play Atlanta in the nlds and the 2 seed is getting the NL central winner. Potentially as the one seed going through Atlanta and then dodgers. Whereas the the dodgers might get cubs/brewers then Phillies/braves We can cross that bridge when we get to it. The Phillies may very well slump in July or August, and then their record is a little more even with other teams. I cannot see them winning 110 games. In the meantime, win these games and build a lead in the division. It is asinine to say they should lose more games, and then have to catch up with someone or sweat it out in September.

They are eventually gonna go into some sort of slump. It’s inevitable with how long the season is. However the biggest concern I have right now is their outfield besides Brandon marsh is not very good. Merrifield has been downright awful outside of a week. Pache has also not been very good and is hitting .209 but at least he has a solid OBP. Rojas has been horrible hitting outside of the Rockies and white Sox series in April. That series he hit .438 (7-16) with a .500 OBP. The rest of the year he’s hitting .184 (23-125) with an OBP of .221. that is absolutely atrocious. Like Castellanos hasn’t been good but Rojas outside of the five game stretch has been atrocious hitting. He should be in the minors learning how to hit. Because he’s not getting better in the majors. He’s staying pretty consistently bad. Like this game should’ve been a game where he plays well cause the Rockies are not good and he look completely lost up there. And then there’s Castellanos who’s hitting .206 and has an OBP of .278. to me, you can’t have four of your five outfielders hitting below .215 and 3 of 5 below .280 on base percentage. i think you have to go out and get an outfielder if the other four guys besides Brandon marsh are going to be this inconsistent or this bad. In the playoffs you are putting a ton of pressure on the 7 other guys to continuously be consistent and not go into a slump. If one or 2 do now you have a much bigger problem. It’s kind of what happened to them after game 5
May 25, 20241 yr Crappy loss. Its not realistic to think the offense will never sputter some nights even against crap teams like Colorado. That's the nature of the sport. Good news is Bailey Falter came through for us and beat the Braves lol. Hoping that DD can pick up an outfielder and reliever by the deadline. Even though Castellanos has overall sucked this year and I've been really tough on him he's still got a better chance of going on a hot streak with hitting HRs and driving in runs than Rojas does. Regardless they could use one more outfielder.

Right now Rojas has been bad outside of the back to back series in April vs. Rockies and white sox who are the two worst teams in baseball. He’s hitting .184 and .221 OBP percentage outside of that series. That’s horrific. it’s actually worse than Castellanos. At some point gotta realize it’s not helping him to try and learn to hit at the mlb level. He hasn’t shown consistent improvement over the first two months. He’s basically been the same. It’s pretty obvious he’s not ready to be a major league hitter. It would benefit him to play every day in the minors and even get some confidence hitting against minor league pitching. The issue is he’d be replaced by Whit or Pache who are not good either. At least with pache has a OBP of .314

None of our guys could do anything lol yup, they have to make moves at the deadline so this doesnt turn to the 2007 mets collapse and dont make the playoffs, they have to get depth starting pitching and depth bench hitting. it's the reason why the 08 phillies won it because they added alot of depth so if the starters flamed out, at least you have the other players that can step up, same reason for the 2023 nlcs collapse, our starters flamed out and we didnt have alot of depth that can step up for us, if we had depth we probably would talking about a world series victory and that's on dave. he has to stop acting like this team is good enough, it's a 162 game season, starters will get tired and start to struggle, we have to add good depth, if not then i wont be surprised to see this team in the wild card or out of the playoffs.

You could also put Schwarber in LF sometimes, Harper DH, and get Sosa some time at 3B. Is Harper in the outfield completely out of the question?

I think Harper playing the outfield is completely out of the question. if that was a consideration, they would’ve just re-signed Rhys Hoskins who essentially was going to be on a 1-year prove it contract. The other issue is Sosa isn’t going to continue to hit this well. He’ll eventually come back closer to his norm. I think more he plays the more he will eventually get exposed. I think what’s gonna happen is if they get to July and castellanos and Rojas are still struggling you are likely looking for an OF bat. Preferably left handed so can platoon Rojas or castellanks if they are in a mega slump. Some guys who’s contracts are coming up at the end of the year and some guys on bad teams i think they’d be interested in: Michael conforto Tommy Pham (having a really good year) Max kepler Kevin kiermaier (having a brutal year) Kevin Pilar (having a good year but minimal games played) Rob refsnyder (having an outstanding year so far) younger guys you’d have to give up good prospects to get but long term future with Phillies: Luis Roberts Jr jazz Chisholm Randy Arozarena (Having a down year) Kyle Tucker (if the Astros are out of it. Heard on mlb Sirius channel they are not against dealing him if it means a big haul back and supposed Dombrowski inquired about him during the offseason to acquire him I’m guessing it starts with crawford/aiden miller and Abel https://www.sportskeeda.com/baseball/news-kyle-tucker-trade-rumors-3-possible-landing-spots-astros-rf-uncertainty-looms-future-houston)
May 25, 20241 yr Purely hypothetical but if the Astros were willing to deal Kyle Tucker (been rumors of they are out of it they would) would you deal a package of this for him get: Kyle Tucker give: Crawford or miller abel caba or ricconnes Jr i think id do it
May 26, 20241 yr Hoping Bohm begins to come out of his slump. He’s 1 for his last 15 and 4 for his last 22.
May 26, 20241 yr Awesome Nola has forgotten what the Fing strike zone is. Got 2 outs then up 0-2 on McMahon, walks him and throws 7 consecutive balls. If rogers didn’t check swing it’d be 10. Idk maybe send the Fing pitching coach to talk to him when he had thrown like 10 consecutive balls
May 26, 20241 yr Nola isn't worth his contract. Why they gave someone that much money who fell apart in game 6 is beyond me.
May 26, 20241 yr With Bohm cooling off and two zeros in the outfield I fear a bad stretch coming up, but I tend to be negative so maybe I am wrong
