Honestly their outfield is a mess besides marsh and frankly he’s kind of just slightly above average. they need a starter and a bench guy cause whit, Dahl and pache are not good enough. That said the starter could’ve been avoided if we just signed bellinger this offseason when he got basically a 1 year deal with an option but decided the same lineup was good enough

They don't have enough to give up, especially if they want to have a decent farm system

Way too early for people to be assuming the Phillies have the division locked. Don’t think those people know that baseball is played for 162 games. This is what we all knew would happen with our Phils, struggles will happen to good teams it’s not how do they respond once they get back home and get healthy guys back. Losing JT is a serious impact and people also blowing him off saying he’s not a superstar we’ll be fine don’t know that a catcher is a lot more than bat and glove. Probably the most important player on the field besides the pitcher. The dark days have begun it’s just how long are we gonna be in the dark for?

this is why i hated dave's offseason, he doesnt take nothing seriously, it's like it's 82 game season to him and not 162 games, like you cant ride hamels and wheeler, that's the worst idea ever, no closer, no upgrades at bullpen, bench bats, i just hate the words, i like our team, that's exactly the reason why we will not win jack because he wont add more pieces, if he wants to win the world series, he has to add talent up the rear to win and not be in the middle of just not adding anyone. that's killing us right now.

It’s why I hated their off-season. Because even if you could make a trade at the deadline, you’re gonna have to give up prospects in your system. You’re better off just signing somebody in free agency and hoping it pans out than trying to make one at the deadline. At worse it’s just draft picks you are giving up to sign someone who’s tendered.

Plus, the fact that the extra wildcard means there’s more teams that are still involved. There’s only really two teams out of it in the NL and three teams out of it in the AL. There’s a good chance that on July 31 you’re sitting there with maybe six or seven teams completely out of it. So a lot of those teams aren’t gonna wanna make moves to unload guys.

we basically brought back the same team and added Merrifield and thought it was good enough. I didn’t think it was and still don’t. Add on your biggest competition in the dodgers have the farm system to do so and are going to make a move cause they are all in.

He will finish with a close to 4 ERA this year, he has lost velocity and he is not the same pitcher

Glad they gave him and Nola all that money.

Did they show the fighter jet on TV, flying around in the bottom of the 6th and top of the 7th?  It was pretty loud, and the players stopped when they could see it coming.  They apparently sang God Bless America before Take Me Out To The Ballgame, but the jet was hovering over the Inner Harbor and drowned out the entire song!

Tough stretch but hopefully it wakes them up a bit. Keeps them hungry. We will see how they respond this week. Need Trea back badly so that will be nice. I'm all in on acquiring Luis Robert Jr.

I like Robert but I’m not willing to give up a Juan Soto package that the padres gave up to acquire Soto if the reports are true on what the white Sox want. I don’t think he’s that type of player to do that. Even with 3.5 years of control that’s a big package for a guy who has concerns. Outside of 2022’s production Soto has been pretty consistent. Also soto had consistently played 150ish games (rookie year only year he only played 116 games and 2020 where it was a 60 game season). With Robert have durability concerns. Last year was the only year in the last 3 years he played over 100 games. He’s already been hurt this year. That is an issue. Frankly i think it’s part of the reason why the report by Bowden said they want a 4th outfielder cause they know there’s a chance he doesn’t stay healthy. I also don’t know if his 38 HRs last year is more of an outlier or he’s going to consistently do that. In the two previous seasons prior to 2023, he was on pace if he played 162 games for 30 and 20 hrs. His current pace this year would be 59. i don’t think he’d keep that pace up and it’s a small sample size of 19 games where he’s hit 7 HRs but also is hitting .186 with .260 OBP. This is kind of the same reason people are down on Randy A of the rays right now but Randy A the previous 3 years proved to be more durable than Robert and pretty consistent with his overall production. Frankly both have concerns and flaws.

2-4 roadtrip against a top team and a decent team and all with missing starters, the horror

Just to point out the only 2 teams the Phillies have faced over .500 on the road this year were Atlanta and Baltimore. They were 2-4. Which isn’t great but really it’s the run differential is 42-22.

So in a 7 game series they would lose

Maybe they will play games 6 and 7 of the NLCS At home, that went well last time

The Rangers, Cardinals, Reds, Giants, Nationals and Padres would all be over .500 if they didn't lose games to the Phillies

Might as well just pack it in then

read what i wrote. It says ROAD

Didn’t play the rangers on the road. so they don’t matter in this cause the stat i gave was on the "road”.

The giants beat the Phillies in Sf 2 out of 3 so they didn’t win that series on the road. So even if SF does make it over .500 it makes their record 3-5 with a run differential of 52-32 when facing teams over .500 on the road.

Also the reds and Phillies split their road matchup 2-2. Again so they’d be 5-7 if the reds and giants got to .500 and the run differential would be 67-49. (Also Phillies lost 2 of 3 to the reds at home. Reds actually have a winning record against the Phillies 4-3 on the season)

i hate this well if they didn’t play the Phillies they’d be over .500 BS. The padres would also be over .500 if they didn’t just get swept by the mets and angels. Thats 6 losses to teams they should’ve beaten or at Least split and would be over .500. The nationals would also be over .500 if they didn’t get swept by the Mets and lose 2 of 3 to the A’s and white Sox. Cardinals would also be over .500 if they didn’t lose 2 out of 3 to the tigers and white Sox. It’s not just the Phillies as to why those teams are hovering around .500. It’s cause they’ve been mediocre for much of this year and inconsistent.

Also Red Sox are over .500 right now by two games. They played the Phillies and the Phillies lost 2 of 3 in Boston and run differential was 18-13. So i was wrong, they’ve faced 3 and they’re 3-5 with a -25 run differential (60-35)

So currently they’ve faced 3 teams over .500 on the road. the two best teams the Phillies face this year on the ROAD were Atlanta and orioles. Two teams we definitively know will be playoff teams. They were 2-4 with a -20 run differential. Meanwhile against all 3 .500 record teams they have a -25. Even if you include giants, reds, cardinals, padres and nationals (a chance none of them make the postseason) they are 13-11 and most of those wins came April. The only two road series they’ve won since May 1 are marlins and Mets. They are going to face cubs, Braves, twins, Mariners and dodgers on the road in July and beginning of August. All of those teams are at least 7 or more games over .500 (besides the cubs; also got the dbacks on the road for 4 and last year was the only year in the last 5 where they had success there). There’s a reason they are 5-9 in their last 14 road games. They haven’t been nearly as good on the road.
