He was arb eligible through the 2028 season. Essentially they just gave him a contract that makes it so they don’t have to go to arbitration. So it either could work out really well and they get him cheaper than what an arbitrator would decide on (or they come to a number that year) or if he isn’t good they are stuck in the contract except it has options in it.

Frankly Montgomery has had 3 horrific starts and his other 9 starts have been solid to good.
