The irritating thing about it is, they were making Taillon work. He had 59 pitches thru 4 innings. So you were likely going to knock him out earlier if you kept it up. Then the next two innings they saw 14 pitches.

Frustrating day, as long as they don't get swept in Atlanta they will have a decent lead

They should've let Dominguez in there till his arm fell off

Frankly they need to win Saturday's game. Thats the one game where they have the definitive advantage pitching.

friday: fried vs. nola

Saturday: Ranger vs schwallenbach

sunday: Mercado vs. lopez.

They really should’ve just used Ruiz and done that. Good chance he’s going to be in the minors after the deadline anyway.

Yeah, Ruiz would make sense. I said Dominguez cuz he sucked anyway. Now Soto is sucking too. Just seems like a waste in a game they have almost no chance of winning.

Bullpen since the start of the marlins series has been pretty poor. 20 IP, 11 ERs and 22 Hits

Yeah, I didn’t understand after Dominguez gave up the three run homer to make it 8-2, why the next inning they didn’t just use Ruiz to finish out the last 3 innings. go into Atlanta having everybody in your arsenal besides Dominguez and Ruiz for the first game. Potentially need your BP in the first game as nola hasn’t pitched well in Atlanta 2 out of the last 3 years. 2023: 5.25 ERA, 2022: 2.93 and 2021: 7.20

Long season can’t expect perfection. Bullpen is fine

I think they’re ultimately gonna be fine. But I would like to add another reliever at the deadline. I don’t fully trust Dominguez, Soto, Marte or Ruiz. Which means in the playoffs you are down to Orion, Hoffman, Alvarado and strahm in the pen who you can. I think you’d like to have 5 guys you fully trust and then in your back pocket Dominguez and Soto.

I also think the Phillies can’t just go into the deadline and just get depth guys in the outfield. They can’t do what they did the last couple years of minor moves. the Dodgers are going to make a splash and frankly i don’t think the Phillies are that much better where they can sit and just say we are good while they do that. Have to be willing to sacrifice future prospects to get the bat you desperately need in the outfield. You wouldn’t be in this predicament of having to give up some of those prospects if you just made the move in the off-season. But you didn’t want to do it so now you have to in order to give yourself the best chance possible at winning a World Series this year which might be your best opportunity.

Also, we’re gonna find out a lot about Aaron nola in these next two starts. He’s got the Braves on Friday and then next week he’s going to be the 3rd starter versus the Dodgers in that series. These are arguably the two best teams he faced all year. First time against the Braves he was rocked for 6 ERs in 4.1 innings. So let’s see what he’s made of. Cause he has a chance to really show what he’s made of and that he’s not the same pitcher as he was last year. If he gets shelled in both of these it’s an issue.

Or he’s just not the same pitcher on the road

Good news Braves lost to the giants so the lead stays at 9

yeah i still rather go another direction.I get he has 3.5 years left of arbitration. I also know he isn’t durable and he has some lazy tendencies like just allowing the runner to just score the game winning run without even attempted to run catch it and throw. Even if he’s 99% likely to score there’s a chance he trips or something happens where he is called out. Frankly i rather go after Arozarena who’s likely going to be cheaper to get. Add on been really good since June 1st. Slashes since June 1st are .284/.407/.862 (doesn’t included tonight where he’s 1-2 with an RBI and 2 Bb). I think he’s closer to what you are seeing now then his first two months

Yeah not ready to give up on painter yet

You guys are missing the point...

Crochet is a legit top of the rotation starter.

He'd probably be our #2 Starter

Frankly I’m not sure why the white Sox include him in that deal. They were asking for a Soto like return for Robert. So makes little sense to include both of those guys for that package especially when crochet has 2 years of arbitration left. That said I don’t really want Robert. I think the asking price is way too high. I think there’s going to be decent outfielders that fit better into this team and you’re not gonna have to give up the prospects you are for a guy who’s not exactly durable.

Based on how the WC standings look right now I’d say these OFs are likely available at some price:

Luis Robert Jr. (white Sox)

Jazz Chisholm (marlins)

Ian Happ (cubs)

Cody bellinger (cubs)

Lane Thomas (nats)

Tyler Ward (angels)

Matt vierling (tigers)

George springer (blue jays)

Kevin keirmaier (jays bad year)

Arozerena (rays)

Lol…every good team in the majors lost today except the Guardians and the Brewers who beat the Dodgers.

Dbacks beat the dodgers cause gallen came back from IL today vs. dodgers. Brewers lost to the Rockies.

Sure

I’ll take one win in Atlanta and come home with an eight game lead.
