The lead over the Braves was 9.0 games. Now it is 8.5. If any of us had been asked if increasing the lead over the Dodgers and holding steady with the Braves was "acceptable” we all would have said "yes” in the blink of an eye.

It’s much better than acceptable. Now, Most important thing to me before the break is to get a good start from Ranger.

Tbh i was in favor of Ranger getting this start skipped and then letting him pitch the 3rd game of the pirates series after the break. Would give him 15 days off besides maybe the 1 inning he pitched in the AS game. At some point if they are still far enough ahead i see them giving him like 2 weeks off. This was a way to do it but only skip 1 start. But the way the Phillies injuries to wheeler, walker, turnbull are and Mercado was awful vs. atlanta they really don’t have a choice but to start him.

I’d skip him too. Treat him with kid gloves. He’s too important to the success of this season.
July 11, 20241 yr Probably means he’s out for a while. Maybe his price comes down as it might have pushed him into opting in if he missed significant time. May also prevent teams from even trading for him as he might miss significant time
July 11, 20241 yr I hope he keeps it up and proves me wrong. I like the signing a couple years back but i just don’t trust he does. Really his June and July (so far) are consistently good. His entirety of May had good HRs but he wasn’t good avg, obp and ops

Tbh if they get Alonso i actually can make the case they have a better overall roster in terms of talent then those three.

Idk i really dislike Chisholm. I think he’s overrated and he’s also had durability concerns. I really think this is coming down to someone like Taylor Ward who’s gonna platoon with marsh and hire lefties well

July 11, 20241 yr The Phillies really need to get on re-signing Jeff Hoffman. He’s a free agent at end of the year. he is way too valuable to let him go to free agency.
