right across the river myself. used to take the family to all of reading games and get the seats right at the end of the visitors' dugout. we saw all the "homegrown" talent that came through AA during that era. my sons have quite a few baseballs signed by those guys.

Jim Bowden spent almost 16 years as a GM with the Reds and Nationals.

Would’ve been perfect to skip his start here. Have him pitch the third game against the pirates. Would’ve been 15 days off 

 

Ranger did a pitch great today. But if we’re only gonna score 2 runs against the Fing Oakland A’s, we’re not gonna win many games. The fact of the matter is hoagie Harris walk six guys in the first three innings and we managed to score 2 runs so far.

I have less issue with him if we’re getting our asses handed to us and he is the long reliever. Cause you need one of those. But there’s no reason for him to be in a two run game. I get we don’t love Soto, but since June 1, he has like a 1.3 ERA. And he didn’t pitch yesterday so you could have used him in this case. Not that I don’t think he could implode but at least you can say he’s been pretty damn good for the last month and a half, and you have him in a High leverage situation. So you can see if you could trust Soto. We know we’re not gonna use Ruiz in the playoffs.

They should’ve just skipped his  start. You would’ve went Mercado then Phillips (or vice versa) and then probably could’ve gotten Walker  somewhat ramped up to make a return from the IL (Thomson has said he’s throwing while on IL) against the  Oakland A’s. And probably fine and got Ranger rest. Now you’re likely gonna keep them out until the twins series, which means you’re not putting him on IL but you’re giving him 8 to 9 days of rest. Whereas you would’ve had 15 days of rest if you would’ve just done it against the A’s and got him back for game 3 of the pirates series. 

Phillies apparently can’t hit the A’s pitching. Rooker surrounded by a bunch of guys hitting .154-.226 around him are hitting us. 

also, don’t get why Bryson Stott is batting fifth and marsh is batting seventh against a right hander. Marsh is hitting 302 against righties and stott is hitting 243.
