In his defense he’s hitting .292 with RISP and he was really good last year. I think he’s having issues with whatever he tried to change in the off-season. Also wouldn’t be surprised if is having issues managing being a first time father to a newborn and playing

I value your opinion but I am not optimistic about his future, but I could just be overly negative

His 2023 was good. .280/.331/.747 15 HRs, 62 RBI and 31 SB

some of this goes back to the fact, he’s not a five hole hitter. He’s hitting .209 this year out of that spot. And for his career he’s hitting .213. Meanwhile this year he’s hitting .260 and .333 out of the 6th and 7th spot. Just leave him in the 6th or 7th spot. His career numbers indicate besides cleanup the 5 hole is his worst spot. For his career best avg is 6 hole where he hits .313 and then 2 hole at .298. Not moving Turner out of 2 so keep stott at 6th or 7th spot.

And people will sau it doesn’t really matter that much. You should be able to hit anywhere. But the issue is when you’re in the five hole you’re expected to drive guys in guys and not necessarily be setting the table and not as much pressure as lower in the lineup. That’s right in the heart of the order and he is not a big RBI guy. that’s not who he is. It should be casty.

This kid is already better than that bum Walker.

I’d be willing to bet at some point in time the Phillies are going to go to a six man rotation. Whether or not wheeler likes it or not, I think they’re gonna try to rein innings back and keep them fresh.

That was actually a decent at bat by Stott until he swung at the last pitch. He worked himself into a good count then decided to swing at crap

Can we trade Walker for Rooker? Two birds one stone...

Rooker is basically just out here saying trade for me please. I’m 5-8 in the series

Kerkering has been bad his last two appearance. Could only get 1 out vs. dodgers and today struggling with the same thing which is no control and very hittable. Last two appearances he’s faced 7 batters and has gotten 3 outs while giving up 4 hits

Make it happen Dave

Credit to Soto. He’s turned his season around. Since June 1st his era is under 1.20.

How’s everyone feeling on Schwarber playing LF again  if and when we get him?

Man really would love for Bryce to accomplish this int his at bat

you know people are gonna lose their mind when the defense comes to play and they give up runs or lose a game because of it. I like rooker but he’s not my top guy for that reason. I still think Ian happ and arozerena are two guys I would look at. Happ you have under contract for a couple more years and been really good since May 21. Randy has been really good since June 1 and he has two more years of arbitration. Plus, I’ve seen him play in the playoff before. He’s had some good series in the playoffs (also a clunker)

Stott - I'm watching from afar so take this with a grain of salt.  What I see is a guy with some grit and solid consistent skills though lacking top end natural athletic talent.  A true Philly type guy who may not always be pretty but who gives his best night in an night out.  He may struggle at the plate but he will give you a top level D at a minimum.

You can tell when he’s starting to get hot is when he giving you at bats where he works count and he’s not swinging at bad pitches. When he starts getting off of his game, it’s when you see him start extending for pitches and his swing becomes really long. He really needs to shorten his swing. I have no problem with him swinging at first pitch because he doesn’t do it very often and he gets himself behind in counts. But really what’s happening is he’s getting himself into these bad hitters count swinging then swinging at bad pitches trying to keep himself alive

He's not going to be Utley but imho he's going to be better than Bowa (though at 2nd base).  That's enough for me even though he may never be able to work a count optimally.

The whole Phillies pitching staff is desperately in need of a breather reset.

I don't know if anyone else plays The Immacu Grid game but I managed to get a rarity score of 12 only using Phillies players

I mean utley is such a high bar. It’s crazy to say, but Chase Utley is pretty underrated not by Phillies fans, but the general baseball fans. Because most fans will be like he’s not a Hall of Famer. But when you watch him that dude was a Hall of Fame second baseman and if he didn’t miss as much time as he did his numbers would look even better

that said, I tend to believe Bryson Stott is going to be closer to what he was in 2023. I don’t believe all the people that were like oh he’s gonna win batting titles. I do think he’s likely for his career going to hit around 270 to 290 which is pretty good. I think the biggest problem that he has right now he’s trying to be a Homerun hitter.  His swing is long. he is not a Homerun hitter. you can hit some home runs when you make contact, but really you are a singles and doubles guy. His approach should be the same as what Alec Bohm is. Because Alec doesn’t go up there looking to hit homer runs. He just goes up there looking to make good contact and that’s why he’s been successful as he is without hitting as many home runs.

Ah yes. Our old nemesis the bases loaded.

But this time we got Harper with less than 2 outs.

How can Harper’s heat map be zeros in two quadrants?
