They might move Rojas into the Christian pache role. And then go with the platoon with left field, whoever they get in centerfield and Castellanos in RF. But late game situations, you can have the platoon in left, your centerfielder and Rojas in right field. Which makes your defense really good in late game situations. Do i think it’s likely? Probably not. But I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if there’s a centerfielder on the market that they think they can acquire and not give up the farm for Agreed. Hays and Marsh platoon in LF, and they bring in another CF to replace Rojas.

But he got hurt and his option next year is something I’d think they’d want to avoid. But might be able to get him cheap enough where they might consider it considering he’s hurt currently and cubs want out of his contract

July 26, 20241 yr I think Dombrowski's comment is 'pre-deadline' GM speak. He says that they are happy with their OF now so as to not increase the price for himself if he wants to make a bigger splash to improve the CF position. Hays is a marked improvement from Weston Wilson. The plan to platoon Marsh and Rojas in CF rather than Marsh and Hays in LF says a lot about the plan moving forward. Rojas isn't being viewed as an every day guy, even with his ++defense. If they can land Robert Jr. for the right price, I think they do that move. And its possible that Marsh and/or Rojas could be included in that deal, rather than stripping down the minor leagues exclusively. Making the move for a guy that can play every day (Hays) makes Marsh and Rojas potentially expendable for a bigger splash move. Rojas, rather than Marsh, would likely have the most interest from Chicago. He's still got options, he's got forever to go under team control, and he's got the athleticism to be a top of the order guy, plus a ++ defender. Granted, he's no where near a top of the order guy at this point, but they could be more patient with him than the Phillies, at least at the big league level. This is just move #1 in what I expect to be 3 or 4 moves before the deadline.

I’d look for someone who’s contract expires the end of his year or is cheap in 2025 and moveable. I think they prefer cheaper because they’ll be involved in the Soto sweepstakes and they’d likely have to move someone if they wind up signing him. Not saying they get Soto but I’d be shocked if they aren’t involved. Way too many rumors last year about it.

July 26, 20241 yr Quote "I do not see him as a platoon, to tell you the truth,” Thomson said. "This guy was an All-Star last season. For whatever reason – and I don’t know Baltimore’s situation, but he wasn’t playing every single day, so I think that’s maybe affected his numbers a little bit. I want to see what we have here.” Thomson:
