July 30, 20241 yr I’d take a chance if verdugo depending on price. If he was cheap to acquire he’s a project id try to fix. Guessing Yankees will ask for more than he’s worth

July 30, 20241 yr Phillies did everything I was expecting for them to do at the trade deadline in terms of checking off boxes, with one exception. Platoon partner for LF. check. Closer. check. LHP relief pitcher to deal with LHB. check. And to do that, they had to dump some players off the 25 man roster... Dominguez, Pache and Soto were all expendable pieces. We can be upset about WHO they picked up, but WHAT they picked up was pretty predictable, the exception being CF. Rooker would have been a nice bat to add, but his glove would have been terrible. I am trying to remember back to the studs they acquired for the 2008 run... and I remember Joe Blanton... and Matt Stairs, I think as the moves. Am I missing someone? Neither was a 'needle moving' blockbuster, but both ended up playing a pivotal role for the team leading up to and in the playoff run. Gotta hope that they picked up the right pieces, even if none of them are blue chippers. (Estevez is pretty close, IMHO, though.).
