I'm from Philly too.  But, I've also experienced real loss... and come to realize... its just sports.  In fact, it was the run in '22 that helped my family through a sudden death in the family and even though they didn't win the WS, having baseball as a distraction during those tough days was a great blessing.  It gave us something to talk about, something that put a smile on our face and something to distract us at a time we desperately needed it.   My perception of the games has changed.  They are a past time.  They are entertainment, but I can't live and die with the team anymore.  This team will right the ship, as you said, and start to hit again.   And it will be fun, and I hope that it won't end the same way, but if it does, I'll still enjoy the games along the way.

I'm sorry for your loss, I also was dealing with my mom in the hospital dying during that run. It really helped me through it. I don't get the people that only come in here when they are losing to bring everyone down with them. It's just a game like you said and I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts too.

I remember talking to you when that was happening. It’s amazing how just a couple hours to get away from everything watching them can be therapeutic. My dog has cancer that came back. Been doing all different types of chemo with minimal success. So when i get to watch I’d much more enjoy them playing well cause at least i have that makes me happier right now. It’s not a mom but i understand when you are upset and sad, watching them helps you become a distraction  

that said im here game in and game out. Be here good or bad. Watching almost every game this year i think this team isn’t nearly as good as that 37-14 record. And they aren’t nearly as bad. Frankly i think never truly replacing Rhys and doing minimal during FA to make the team better was always going to eventually catch up to them. My preseason prediction was they’d lose in the NLDS cause i think everyone around them got better. Atlanta is not as good due to the injuries but padres, dodgers, dbacks when they are fully healthy have improved and are better. Even the pirates are much improved. Frankly i kind of think the Phillies bringing everyone back benefitted them early. April and May a lot of teams don’t have the continuity cause they have a much different team and figuring everything out. I think that benefitted the Phillies cause only new face was whit. I think eventually those teams that are actually good eventually figure it out and get better and catch up to you. 

This team blows.  Season can’t end soon enough

they had the best team and record after 51 games at 37-14

since they went on that Rockies and giants road trip they are 28-29. That’s 17th best over that time. And it’s more than a third of the season.

since London series they are 21-24 which is the 21st best record in baseball.

since dodgers series they are 4-11 which is the worst in baseball besides the white Sox.

they are trending with each passing week to be getting worse. Ultimately I think they turn it around. But the 2022 Mets who were cruising. Hit the skids, blew a big lead and lost the division to Atlanta and got themselves stabilized but they never really recovered. Why padres beat them. 

what's worse about this,this losing streak and the lack of moves by dave and the excuses by enabling fans that this is ok, it's exactly what this organization is and why we will never sniff a world series again, if the organization, dave, rob wont hold accountability with themselves to make things better, why should the players care and it's effecting them, they want to win and the organization doesnt.  that's why this team took such a long time to sniff a playoff appearance because john middleton just doesnt give a s###, he would rather wait until the big fish are available 8 years later after cliff lee choked in the playoffs rather than fix the internal problems and get good players that help them win along the way. ownership is all about paycheck and nothing else.

Tbh my biggest gripe has been they never actually replaced Rhys. Last year their solution was Castro. This year it’s hays and marsh. They should’ve just brought Rhys back for a year. Played him at 1b. Had Harper play LF for a year. It wasn’t going to destroy or deteriorate him. That argument was one of the dumbest ones i kept reading. He does stuff at first where he almost gets hurt too. So it can happen anywhere. If you do that you at least have an extra bat that can potentially get hit and carry you when everyone else stinks. No offense to marsh, hays, Rojas but they aren’t the type that can carry a team for 3-4 games. As many warts as hoskins has he showed he can change a series (nlds vs. atlanta) and be a guy that lift the team for a week if he’s hot.

I'm sorry about your dog man that can be a really hard loss too. Even when they aren't playing great it's still a good distraction it just doesn't make for a happy distraction lol.

I know you are here day in and day out and that wasn't directed towards you so I hope you didn't think that. Listen even after all I said today was the first time in this slide that I said to 2 people that this team is in trouble.  I don't have my head in the sand, I just choose not to piss and moan about it after every loss .

Once they get bounced in the Playoffs and Harper comes up small as usual, with only  4 years left I think they can get some stupid team to trade for him and give alot back

peaked too early, playing s h itt y now is better than in october, hopefully they can turn it around in the next 2 months

Frankly the one thing i think would be a silver lining if the offense is just awful in the playoffs or has the issues it has with RISP is that they might actually go all in on Soto 

They may very well be out of 1st by the end of this road trip
