Everyone wants certainty. It's not there in football or anything analogous to this situation. Every young QB, including Burrow, Allen, and Herbert, have flaws and unknowns. I would take Hurts. Attitude, leadership, and willingness to work within a scheme. This year he has shown that he can throw the rock. Short and long. How many years did we watch chunky soup not progress in his skill set and pitch worm burners? Hurts seems coachable, leads his team, and has talent. That is a big deal. Burrow, Allen, and Herbert may be more talented but also out of the league sooner because of ego -- they are not as coachable.

Good time to remind: if you just want act like middle school cliques trolling and insulting each other go to RnR.

  • Just take a moment to realize how easy things look for this offense when the quarterback is right. This team just scored 28 points against a divisional opponent in a half. Just insane where things cou

Before you talk about McNabb, you should realize, this is Jalens 3rd year.  After McNabbs 3rd year he had won 3 playoff games.  And he didn’t have AJ and Smitty, or anything close at WR.

That’s not just head canon, that’s fan fiction. If ego gets you out of the league sooner, Tom Brady’s career ain’t makin it 5 years. That dude’s head has its own gravitation field

Anyone ever listen to Big Ben talk? Aaron Rodgers? Dan Marino? Ego is a job requirement. Ego is the reason Burrow wont be declining anytime before 35, save for health reasons

Cool. What's this based on? Fantasy?

TO was a total headcase and went on to....have one of the greatest careers we've ever seen from a WR.

They injury to Hurts can happen to any qb even golden boy Herbert. He was simply landed on with force like every other qb that takes a sack. His "reckless” game play is literally no different from Josh Allen on every other highlight play of his weekly. He will get his as well, it happens.

Let's try to simplify this.

Suppose you're playing five finger fillet. For those that don't know, it's the game where you spread your fingers out wide and go back and forth stabbing between them with a knife.

If you were playing that game, would you intentionally move your fingers closer together? No.

Sure, you could get hurt doing it normally, but ultimately you'd like to lower the chance it happens. Pretty simple concept.

The problem is, you are only examining risk, not reward. The risk is that he faces a greater chance of being injured with his current playing style.

But what do you think the reward is?

That should be obvious.

No one's asking him to never run. It's apparent that it adds some dynamic to the offense.

A healthy medium isn't really that unreasonable, is it?

So if he rushes 120 time a year that would be fine? Or does he have to only rush as many times as Mahomes?

Let me know that number that makes everyone happy.

That would be more reasonable, sure.

Again, I don't think it's a big deal to not want your starting QB to run 15+ times a game.

Mahomes runs four times a game on average. Hurts runs 10 times a game. Josh Allen runs 7 times a game. So everyone would be happy with a drop to 7 times a game? Or is it only four times a game he can run?

I think we really need to nail this down.

There isn't a magic number, but I do know that when we're comfortably in the double digits over the span of three seasons, it's too high.

The offense took a hit with him out, yeah? Let's try to keep him in there as best we can. Continue to build the OL and try to have him avoid taking hits.

A select few of you want so badly for people to always recognize how he's grown as a passer. However, when people want to keep him upright and have him stay healthy because of his growth as a passer, suddenly it's an issue and he needs his legs to he successful. Something that many of you staunchly argued against.

Pretty funny stuff.

It’s not a number for me. It’s not using himself as a battering ram. The wide open TD runs in Indy and Chicago, fine. Taking open runs like he did vs GB. Fine. The game he played in Chicago was just stupid. Miles, Scott, and Gainwell are there for the that stuff. Hurts played that game like Parsons’ comments really got in his head.

Outside of the Tennessee game, Covey gave us nothing as a punt returner. Would anyone ever suggest using Hurts as our punt returner since he’s more dynamic with the ball in his hands? After all, he can be hurt anywhere at any time.

No one with two working brain cells would ever seriously suggest doing that. It’s called risk mitigation. Wide open space, go for it and get down. We don’t need the two or three yard runs from Jalen that end in him getting clobbered.

I personally think Allen runs too much as well

When Hurts runs and gets that free five yards and gets out of bounds it's awesome. When the defense all turn their backs and he goes up the middle and slides early, it's awesome....it's when he gets to that 8th or 9th run and the defense is waiting for him it becomes dangerous. Chicago was waiting for him and made him pay. That's where the concerns are.

Yep.

People are kidding themselves if they think teams in the playoffs won't purposely gun for his shoulder, too.

I swear you guys live in a state of perpetual worry. If any NFL fans are going to enjoy the latest rendition of the Pro Bowl, it will be you. I'm not the least bit interested in watching grownups playing flag football.

"You guys are Hurts haters”

”We hope he continues to evolve as a passer, stop running so much and prolong his career”

”You guys are perpetual worriers”

More like:

"I'm worried about his noddle arm."

"I'm worried about his accuracy."

"I'm worried about his lack of arm talent."

"I'm worried that FA WRs won't want to come here because our QB is a RB."

"I'm worried that the Eagles with three 1st rd picks, won't be willing to trade for  a real Qb this year and waste another with a RB playing QB."

"I'm worried that the Eagles didn't give Carson Strong a legit shot to showcase his arm talent."

"I'm worried that  Hurts will show a little more improvement this season and fool the Eagles into passing on a real QB prospect in the 2023 draft."

"I'm worried that we won't lose enough games to convince the team to move on from Hurts."

"I'm worried that it's the team, not Hurts, making this offense click. Any QB would have the same success with this talent around him."

... and now, all of a sudden, it's:

"The best player in the history of the world keeps risking himself to injury and he's going to gyp us of a record setting Galactic Sports Icons Hall Of Fame first ballot induction ceremony where he thanks Eagles fans for all their wonderful advice and apologizes for still leaving a couple plays out there."

Cmon @brkmsn we are past all of the pre 2022 season stuff.

If he is going to get paid, I want him to be paid to play in 17 games a year.

We have already shown you the career progression of Lamar and Cam.  Based on those two arcs, we are currently at the peak, without the playoff wins.

Gonna be a SuperBowl win this year!

After that, next stop is the Hall of Fame, baby.

And, maybe a sneaker deal.

You may have accepted some of Jalen, but not all of him.

I want Jalen Hurts to be Jalen Hurts. I don't want him to be Newton, Jackson, Brady or anybody else that he is not.

We don't want him to be Newton or Jackson either. Why wouldn't you want him to resemble a guy with all the rings?? He can still be mobile. It's him. 17 carries isn't necessary though when he has all the talent around him. It be one thing when he had to make all the plays. He has everything

He can only be Jalen hurts. Sorry. I know that makes you guys upset but he can only be who he is. And what he is is better than any of you thought.

And forgive me for ignoring what you know what his "career peak” is when you OBVIOUSLY WERE WRONG about what it was, mr Tyrod Taylor. You of all people have no idea wtf his "peak” is.

Are you his mom or something? You debate like a spited woman
