People are crazy if they don’t think the Eagles are going to make every effort to extend Jalen this offseason.

The franchise tag is not a realistic option for us. We won’t have the cap space.

The Eagles will be looking for a 6-7 year deal with an out after 3-4 years.

The Eagles should get his deal done ASAP, before guys like Joe Burrow, Justin Hebert and even Lamar get paid and reset the QB market.  Most 2nd contracts are for 5 years with years 4 and 5 basically voidable so all the guaranteed money is in the first 3 years of the deal.  Hurts has another season on his rookie contract, which will gives the Eagles cap flexibility for another year.

I predict he gets a 5 year, $250 million deal with $120 million guaranteed.  That's a little better than Kyler Murray but not into Watson/Rodgers territory.

Good time to remind: if you just want act like middle school cliques trolling and insulting each other go to RnR.

  • Just take a moment to realize how easy things look for this offense when the quarterback is right. This team just scored 28 points against a divisional opponent in a half. Just insane where things cou

If I'm Justin Herbert, I'd tell Chargers I'm not signing a long-term deal until Brandon Staley is fired.

Random thought on Jalen (which is probably more appropriate for the off-season): I’d like to see him progress to the 4500 yard passing/500 yard rushing range next year.

I might be wrong but that’s where I see his talent leading him to with the talent we have on the team.

I'd be very happy about this because it would likely extend his career here

Sounds right. And I think Jalen and the team would agree that, for him, his running style is not sustainable (nor is it preferable). It just is what it is. He can be too good a passer to keep running for 700-800 yards.

That is an absolute must for Jalen’s long term success and ours. His running ability is a huge asset and should be used, but not in excess.

He has improved by leaps and bounds as a passer year over year, he needs to keep improving. Success will follow.

Interesting to see that Hurts is questioned about the Vagiants going after Hurts implying they were trying to hurt him. Kind of how I felt when they relentlessly blitzed him.

I believe it was said that the giants blitz more than anyone in the league or one of the top teams. That being said I think they played defense like normal but, were also looking to target that shoulder if they got there.

If Hurts beats the Giants they should extend him asap. I think he would have proven enough.

Bounties are against the rules though. If Giants were dumb enough to do it after what happened to Saints then it'll be hilarious when they start getting penalized

Hes expected to perform well and beat the Giants. This is not a good Giants team and they are far less talented than we are. I wouldnt break the bank because he beat a bad team in the playoffs. His money game will be vs 49ers or Dallas.

He is not getting any contract until after the season is completed.

Its weird that it seems some people just want him to get a contract as soon as possible just so they can say "told ya hes the franchise guy", rather than letting him prove himself so he can make the most money possible. Are they team Hurts or not?

Oh give it up. It’s mostly because they were called all types of names and mocked for 2 years for believing in the young man’s talents.  Now it seems as though they were correct and so it’s only human nature to want to start the dunking exercise as quickly as possible.:towel:

Let them have their fun. Besides, it’s Howie’s job to figure out when the best time to sign him not the fans so who ultimately cares?

Um, I am pretty sure there was multiple racist accusations pointed at the folks who were not sold on him.

Well they cant claim they won the race when the race aint over. Jalen still has a lot to prove in these playoffs and still has to improve as a passer and less of a runner. Them wanting to be right so bad is no excuse for bad ideas.

Agree 100%

I get it. 5-10 years ago, I would have agreed that it would be ludicrous to even hint that his race was a factor in whether folks wanted him as their QB, especially in light of the fact that this franchise/fanbase has led the way in having black starting QBs by a WIDE margin. Plus being accused of such things can’t be a fun experience for people who don’t think like that.

But a lot has happened in the US these last ten years to make me question whether such a stance is so ludicrous. Things are not longer as clear cut IMO. Anyway, this isn’t a political forum so I’ll stop there.

No matter what happens this weekend, Hurts is going to get a mega extension after the season.

What if he duplicates last years playoff performance ??  You would be on board with him getting a mega extension ??

Contract extension or not, at this point, he already is the franchise QB for the Eagles. This team is being built around him. The offense is tailored for him. The reason people want him to get extended soon is because every year that number goes up around the league as the next guy sets the bar with a new contract.

I root for the Eagles. Along the way, I have players I like more than other players and a few that I would group as my all-time favorite Eagles, But I'm not "team player name."

If he plays awful vs the Giants on Saturday and we lose the game, I dont think Howie will extend him and Hurts will play out his contract until he proves he can be successful in the postseason.

Agreed.  It would be foolish to financially tie the team to a QB without a playoff win.  Look how that worked out last time.

Make no mistake this team and offense is built for any good QB. You shouldnt need to run 17 times in order to have success with AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Goedert, this Oline, and a good RB in Sanders.

It's like you didn't even watch this season. There are games where defenses focus on one aspect of our offense and we simply beat them the other way. The multidimensional threat that Jalen poses for defenses opens things up for all the playmakers.

Running 17 times is no longer multidimensional.....
