This guy just continues to exceed expectations. He continues to play at such a high level when very few thought he could.

A year ago we were talking about what his ceiling was. I think most of us thought his ceiling was to be around the top 10. He's far exceeded that. And he's still young and can, and probably will, still get better.

Why you don’t dump a 23-24 year old quarterback after his first playoff experience.

There were some people saying he needed to be benched or traded after that even though Jalen is the youngest Eagles QB to start a Playoff game.  Now he might be younger than Donovan for his first NFC Championship (Which was on the road, this is going to be at home).   Last year's Tampa team was light years better than what Tom dragged into the Playoffs this year.    Jalen has shown nothing but growth and elevation his entire career.   Year 1 was great training under Doug but outside of some gimmicky plays here or there.   He didn't really play until the end of the year.  It was only 4 games but that was so valuable and Jalen learned a lot during that disastrous season.  Doug letting him start those game was very beneficial to his career.

Then last year, we weren't really that great of a team looking back.  Jalen was a huge reason we got to the playoffs too.   That was his 1st year as a starter.   Then Year 2 as a starter he exploded and now the Team is on a historic run. They have returned to the NFC Championship in the first time in 5 years.   Not only have we found our QB.   I think Jalen can have a long career here.   Oh yeah.  His extension isn't a matter of "If" but "When."  I'm very proud of him for never listening to the noise and he kept improving his game.

Jalen is going to get paid and he's going to have earned that big contract. What an incredible story and what an incredible guy. And to think at 24 he's still young, he's still learning and he's going to improve. I have very little doubt that next year he is going to be even better. And then it's a case of stringing that together for a few years. If he does that then this team is going to compete for a long time.

Love him. A true leader. Able to make plays when it matters and is humble and get Philly.

And yet some people on here still don’t seem to be convinced? Honestly don’t know what else he was to do.

We are always crying that we never get THAT GUY, and yet here we are with him, I have naked pic of him over my bed

Only a Lombardi will completely get them off the fence.  No matter what happens next, I'm so proud of Jalen.    I can't wait to see him with the Blue NFC Championship background at the press conference.

Lurie - Hey Jalen can we talk, Amazing Performance.

Jalen - Thank You Mr. Lurie for giving me this opportunity.  By the way, have you ever heard of Fat Joe?

Lurie - Not Really why?

Jalen - Because Yesterday's Price is not Today's Price

Dude, that should be the last thing on your mind right now.  This is about the name on the front of the jersey, not the one in the back.

Just give Hurts his props. You bring this "team" talk when Hurts plays well. You've been hating on Hurts for years just eat crow. The man balls out & leads the team to win.

Mike can you not see your hypocrisy here?

1) You say individual players don’t matter, but you posted in this Jalen Hurts thread during the game. I had not quoted you.

2) Up until yesterday you had Minshew Mania as your signature and claimed you were supporting a guy who wasn’t going to play because he was a Cougar. And now you say it’s not about the individual player.

3) Like it or not, it is about the players and particularly the Quarterback. I want to win the Super Bowl of course but I also care about the Eagles in the future and solidifying our franchise QB is a big part of both the now and the future.

4) While you have begrudgingly admitted you were wrong on Hurts you have continued to needle at him and claimed it would be wrong to offer him an extension in the off-season. Clearly the Eagles are going to make extending him a priority.

The job is not done yet but I’ll just say this: the young man is special

1.  As you started the player above the team nonsense during the game

2.  It was not about supporting Minshew above Hurts, or him playing, its a WSU thing, you wouldn't understand

3.  I care about the Super Bowl, thats it.

4.  The Eagles will extend Jalen when they see fit, and minus a Super Bowl, I don't think they will.

The only thing that would prevent a Hurts extension is if something catastrophic happening to him physically.     The team absolutely loves him from the top-down.   Leadership and talent.   He is everything you want in a QB.

Contrast this with Wentz, who had talent but no leadership skills.   It seemed like there were always some kind of rumors with Wentz and the other players not really getting along in reality.

The one argument against extending him is that the qb market has gone somewhat off the rails. But if he accepts a Josh Allen deal, you sign it as quick as u can.

Burrow Herbert Lamar are up this offseason and they’ll play leapfrog. Lawrence and Dak again next year. Have to get Hurts in before them or he’ll cost 10-15m$ more per year in 2024

Exactly right. He's already moving toward $45-$50 million per year.  Howie, along with the GMs of the Bengals, Chargers and wherever Lamar lands have to move fast.  If you think the money is insane now, just give it a minute.

With that said, Hurts is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL not named Mahomes.  Pay the man.

Hurts will get extended as soon as it is possible. He’s proven himself.

I've made it clear that I'm not a Carson Wentz 'hater', but two of Carson's three main Eagles backups have won playoff games (Nick went 4-1 in his second stint with us, Jalen is now 1-1) while Carson went 0-1 in the playoffs.

While I wasn't initially 100% sure of the move that made Jalen the starter, the trajectory of Carson's and Jalen's careers completely validates the moves made that sent Carson away and elevated Jalen into his current position.

Don't we have one more season on his rookie contract? He'll definitely be extended, but I don't want to do it too soon and waste that 'cheap' season. He wholeheartedly deserves a massive payday, but we don't want to squander the final year of a rookie deal.

Maybe Howie can structure it so that 2023 will be 'on the cheap', but still pay him.

An extension won’t change his 2023 cap numbet

Are you nuts?

You expect the Eagles to draft a QB and start all over?

Then I'm all for it. Get it done and focus on other players. Of course, I wasn't against Carson's extension at the time, either

Best part is, we can now use our 6 picks in the first 2 rounds over the next 2 drafts to help supplement the roster. More freedom to trade up or down as well.
