Gibbs was criminally misused by O'Brien.

So true! He misused several players, so glad he is gone.

Same is true for our DC, former DC, Pete Golding.
Imagine having a team with the 2 best players in college football, Bryce Young and Will Anderson and we didn’t even make it to the playoffs!

Good time to remind: if you just want act like middle school cliques trolling and insulting each other go to RnR.

After his press conference on Sunday, I’m starting to hold out hope he takes a contract that’s more team-friendly than expected, especially if he loves winning as much as he claims. How amazing would that be? Gives him the best chance to continue to compete for a title over the course of his career.

I feel your pain. The defense laid an egg for a complete half of football when the offense basically played keep away from the Chiefs the entire first half. No excuse for that pathetic performance.

At what point will everyone agree that KC made changes at half time, and Eagles did not adjust. Eagles were simply out-coached. Still an incredibly close game that could have went either way.

This is a business man. He needs to cash out on that first contract at least. He's taking a lot of abuse as a QB. He's getting RB mileage.

I think everyone already agrees with the 2nd half out coaching.

There's a valid argument to be made against hijacking all your team's cap space vs what makes a player an attractive sports figure for endorsements which is also sizable income.

If you simply look at Aaron Rodgers this season, it was clear that despite being last year's NFL MVP, his lack of success this season saw him used less in national advertisements. State Farm chose to stick mainly with the Mahomes ads as the season went on and it is obvious why. According to Forbes, Mahomes made about $20M in endorsements in 2021 alone. Tom Brady has earned over $140M in endorsement deals. Baker Mayfield was making about $10M/year in endorsements until he was given up on by his teams and then all his major ads stopped.

Nah. It's a business and while Super Bowls are nice, they aren't guaranteed on team friendly deals, AND it's still a job at the end of the day. I want him to get max $ so that he's set up as well as he can be for life.

I'm sure he'll factor in others while going over his deal, but I don't want him to go the Brady route and be underpaid.

They all get their first contract man. Come on now. 2nd contract they can start considering that stuff.

Didn't like some of his choices to keep the ball when he should have given it to the RB

I'd like for him to work on sliding feet first instead of trying to break the tackles when running. Live to fight another down

I know. Would be helpful if just takes $40M instead of the max amount. Effectively a 3 year deal (spread over 6 years) with $120m guaranteed with bloated amounts over the final three years that forces renegotiation after 3 years? That contract would be dirt cheap by 2025 when we are ready to really compete again.

This man is going to get paid. He already did his prove it deal on a 2nd round contract for the last 3 years. Business comes first in the NFL. He earned it.

Reich Eisen praising Hurts again.  Accuracy, deep balls, leadership, resilience after the fumble, answering big offensive drives by Mahomes.  Calls out haters who call him a "running QB."

Never going to criticize Hurts, or any player really, for what they decide to fight for and agree to. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for generational wealth, so take advantage of it.

What Howie agrees to, is entirely up for debate.

The business side of things is often seen differently by fans vs players.  Fans think these players should take less, be loyal to the team and call them entitled if they negotiate.  The players can be traded, cut, get injured, have long-term health problems, etc.  They put their bodies out there for entertainment.  Their careers aren't very long.  When you start saying players are "too old" when they're 30 that tells you something.  Players often have 1 shot at the big contract.

If you have that kind of skill and value to a company that they would give you big money, you wouldn't turn it down.  Would you offer to take a pay cut so your company could hire more workers to help the company be a success?  Would you turn down a big raise because you don't want to be seen as spoiled or entitled?

Well said... for our entertainment these dudes shorten their life spans and won't be able to walk without a limp when they're in their late 40s. Deion Sanders has like 3 toes on one foot now. F that... get that money for the pain and suffering that is to come.

Right. Hurts is going to and should get paid. Expect around 200 million guaranteed and between 45 and 50 million dollars a year average.

The hope is that he works with Howie to make the contract as team friendly as possible. For example a 6/7 year contract with a reasonable out for the Eagles after 4/5 years. We also need to hope he doesn’t ask for a fully guaranteed contract.

Bottom line is that Hurts will be paid, which means they need to keep bringing in high level talent through the draft. Howie has had two really good drafts in a row, so hopefully that continues.

Although that keep away in the first half was only possible because the D did get their stops in. They stopped them 3 times in the first half. Only gave up 7 points (or 10 if we don’t get the doink).

Now the second half implosion is another story. KC flipped the script on us - they got a couple of stops and they played keep away from us. Not a single f’n play or stop from our D. Yea it’s Mahomes and you aren’t going to shut him down for the entire game but this was just terrible.

We lost because of 2 big reasons: Yes, the 2nd half D is major one but the other one that people aren’t talking about much is that while neither D got many stops, we made two crucial mistakes on O and ST which more or less spotted Mahomes 14 points (fumble and PR). As great as Hurts was ex that one play, that’s just a tall ask.

Hurts was incredible in the Super Bowl. On the list of reasons they lost you have to go waaaaaaay down toward the bottom to find Hurts name. Yes, the fumble hurt, but guess what? Even after that they went into halftime with a 10 point lead.

374 total yards (over 300 passing), 4 total TDs. Jalen is the only reason they were even in the game up to the very end. And frankly I think if he gets the ball back with a little time left, he’d have lead them down the field for a score to either tie or win. Dude was on fire.

So, while the loss stings, I think we should be excited that our franchise QB proved that he can put up that kind of performance in the biggest possible game. If the D gets just ONE second half stop, they win.

The 10 point half time lead was always a little deceiving with KC starting out with the ball in the 2nd. With the way we played in 1st half, sure would have been nice to have been up 17 (not 10).

The fumble hurt and was the only turnover in the game and made their comeback a little more possible. But I agree with you, blaming the loss on Hurts is nuts. He more than made up for that play with literally everything else he did in that game. We didn’t have a run game outside of him, and he threw the ball very well. Was the key reason the game was as close as it was. The O definitely turned up big time.

I’ll just say that with just an average QB, that game would have been a blow out. Hurts played like an MVP

So, lets say Jeff Lurie wants to manufacture a new chocolate bar called "The Howie" and he hires Jalen Hurts to be the spokesman (wink wink) and shoot the commercial which pays him 20 million (again, wink wink) for a 30 second spot ... is there some kind of rule against this?

He showed up big time at the biggest stage going toe to toe with the best QB in the league. How anyone can be down on him after that is beyond me.

Hurts was the MVP. but they don't really give it to players from the losing team. Think it's only happened once.

Correct, and I agree. Going forward, I don’t see them ever giving the MVP title to someone on the losing side.
