The better defense lost the SB. Maybe some of these guys need to be gone considering how they played in the 2nd half of the game.

If they were better, they wouldn't have lost. We expected them to be better, but they didn't get it done.

Good time to remind: if you just want act like middle school cliques trolling and insulting each other go to RnR.

  • Just take a moment to realize how easy things look for this offense when the quarterback is right. This team just scored 28 points against a divisional opponent in a half. Just insane where things cou

Hurts wouldn't have even missed a single game if they were must win games. Our record afforded him an opportunity to rest which he would have done if we had locked up the number 1 seed anyway, regardless of the shoulder strain. People crack me up with their desperation to be right about something on a player they were clearly so wrong about in so many ways.

Speculate all you want. The FACT is he has missed time and has been hampered late in the season with injuries

That’s my overall point. Gutting the defense might not be as bad as some people think. They actually need to get younger in a lot of positions on this defense.

I'm not arguing that Hurts doesn't deserve a top contract. I'm simply looking at a perspective that says if a good player is on a successful team, he can potentially make more money with his contract and endorsements than if he's just a top paid player on a bad team. Brady made over  $140M in endorsements through his career. Mahomes will shatter that amount by the time he is done. It's something that a smart person should consider. You are still getting paid.

As for their job being "entertainment" --- who cares? Don't regular people put their lives, bodies, health on the line every day for regular pay? Once again, I believe he deserves to be a top paid player at his position. I just think it would be careless to not consider the factors that determine endorsement income as well. Dak Prescott makes over $10M/year in endorsements and has made over $50M to date --- And he was chosen more because he plays for the media's darling.

You're not considering the possibility of injury and the risk. Non guaranteed money and endorsements can be gone in an instant for these guys. Look at what happened to RGIII once he got hurt. They need to get as much upfront money as they can in this sport. I'm sure he'll get endorsements AND his big contract. It's not one or the other.

This league is pretty much an offensive league anyway. Defenses are just speed bumps now a days with how the game is played.

Young guys who are willing to compete may be a better option than some of the older guys who got worn out. I think the idea of the Eagles being doomed, because Hurts will get paid is a little exaggerated. Like I’ve mentioned before he took a far worse roster to the playoffs when he was not as talented of a quarterback than he is right now.

Mahomes was hampered (and missed time) too from a high ankle sprain he suffered in the pocket. Who freakin' cares? When you stop pretending like QBs only get hurt when they run, I won't ask you to explain Troy Aikman, Sam Bradford, Tua Tagovailoa, etc...

FWIW

Not a surprise at all. I’m not even sure why anyone is worried about this to begin with. Watson had a contract with the Browns for all this money, but they structured it so he barley lost any money even though he was getting suspended last year. Howie can and will manipulate the cap to his benefit. Hurts will get his money while Howie gets his players.

Guys are hurt in this league all the time. Just shows how weak the anti Hurts argument has gotten. Make something out of nothing, because all of their other arguments have been utterly destroyed by Jalen.

What does the pocket have to do with anything I stated? All I put up was actual facts, and it just shows how much you’ll twist yourself up about something I haven’t said.

What about what I posted is anything anti Hurts?

I'm still not sure how much I'm overreacting to the Super Bowl loss, but I'm fine with retooling on defense for cheap. Blankenship is one young guy that will be cheap for a bit longer that I feel can really play. Ellis might surprise at LB if we lose both Edwards and White in free agency. I'm already high on Dean there. We still have Slay, Maddox,  Sweat, and Reddick to work with along with Davis and Williams. McPhearson now has a couple seasons under his belt and should be expected to push for a job. Jobe showed some things in camp as a rookie. I think we all pretty much expect to draft at least one player on each line and probably a DB in this draft. Howie may get a deal done with CJGJ, but I have a feeling someone else will offer more money his way.

So if we go cheap on defense this offseason, it may not be the end of the world. If the offense continues to improve, it could keep the defense from being exposed even if there are liabilities.

Some of you are acting like Cowboys fans when it was time for them to pay Dak Prescott. Hurts is a better QB than Dak. Hurts went to Playoffs in 2021 with bad WRs. Put Dak on that team, Eagles miss Playoffs.

All of the guys you mentioned I’m a fan of. I was surprised how much better McPhearson has looked from year one to now although I don’t know if he’s starter material just yet, and like you I like what I saw out of Ellis on special teams. There’s still talent on this defense even if they can’t bring the majority of the guys back. I hope they do bring back CJGJ though.

Eagles are going to pay Hurts. It’s an absolute certainty.

And it was a close game. It’s not like we got blown out.

Pretty simple:

If you like the QB, missing a couple games is no big deal, lots of QBs miss games.

If you don't like the QB, he's "injury prone" and missing a couple games is magnified.

Mahomes and Hurts both played through injuries this year.  Mahomes had to leave playoff games twice this year due to his injury, Hurts didn't.
